Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
There's a thread on LS1 tech about adding electric power steering to any car for $35. It's quite informative https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...er-issues.html

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
I wanna show you guys something pretty cool
the Controller board comes with a tiny red WiFi card! so we are going to solder that header connector to the board next (baby steps) I could have added all the gizmos to this board when it first arrived but I wanted to isolate and keep the complexity down to a minimum, plus I wanted to confirm what all is needed to spin up the motors and what is none essentially hopefully you guys and gals follow that logic not bad for Government work! ha ha |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
alright so what does that Why Five card give you?
well glad you asked, or at least were thinking that, it gives US instant gauges! |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
wait so you're telling me I have to drive around with a stinkin' laptop on my seat to see my RPMs and such?
um no, any WiFi enabled device can work as your gauge cluster, think iPhone, iPad, or an old 7" Android tablet like this... |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
and with a lot of work and cussing you can customize it, here's an alternate prototype design

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
and since that may be too much for that little 7" display I dumbed it down a bit

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
I’d say, stay away from “cardboard fiber”. Keep a clean classic look with the screen. This isn’t a race truck with 200hp and 30 mile range.

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
so to complete the Controller VCU board build it was time to solder on the second 20 pin connector this is the A Connector which I called Ancillary

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
If you use the same steering column as Mike finnegan used in his c10 you can fit a large screen.

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
Just curious if you have a computer or electrical background. All this is super cool but confusing for me lol

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
how it's going to work, a video bench testing the basic electric components needed to make the electric motor spin
think of it as the equivalent of running a gasoline powered engine in an engine test stand hope you find this interesting Lexus GS450h Motor First Spin Basic Setup |

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck
Enjoyed your video. I'm pretty sure I am not smart enough to undertake a project like this but I am learning a lot with your clear explanations. I always look forward to your posts.
