Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

I’ve been working on the GMC seat, from the above post #449. Here are some before and after on some of the hardware.

New webbing or cleaning and dying the seatbelts?
They look great either way.

Thanks!
Cleaning and dyeing. I have more seatbelts that I have done on my build thread. I have said I probably ought to start a new thread for the seatbelts. But I’ve been putting them on the Build Thread.

Looking' Great! That chrome plate is flashy! Are the GM logos on the seatbelt ends readily available?

Yep. Classic Parts, Classic Industries, Ebay, Firebird Central just to name a few.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Got a couple of core seats today. They are 77-80 Crew Cab, front & rear seats. Both tilting seats. Time to start stripping to restore.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

When they restored my truck they didn't put the holes in the seat for the seat belts. Is there anything I can do?
The belts are behind the seat but they won't reach far enough to grab.

The seat would have to come back out. The seat back would have to be separated from the seat bottom. Then the cover needs to be removed, holes cut and the bezels installed. The bezels are nearly impossible to install with the cover on the seat. I’m doing a seat right now, here’s a pic.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Can you get those seatbelt passthrough tubes as new parts or are you refurbishing them?

If it's a trade secret I'll just shut up. LOL

No your fine. I restore the OEM parts when I have the color that I need for the seat. If not, then new parts are available, and then those get dyed to the color needed.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

I did these 2 Charcoal Velour seats for a customer that has a CrewCab. Fully restored frames, tracks for the front and rear brackets for the back.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

The 2 Crew Cab Seats from the above post, got loaded up for a meet. Shipping both seats, even separately, was going going to be awfully expensive. So for half that amount, the customer paid to have them delivered half way, which was a 8hr round trip. So I hired my Parents to do the drive. They are visiting from Florida and bored out of their minds lol.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Is a crew cab rear bench the same as the front - difference being one is on a sliding track the other is fixed mount? Do the mounts and tracks interchange between seat bases?

Yes, they are the same seat. All the 73-87 seats will bolt right into the cab floor.
Actually GMC Seats are slightly different. They have that little extra chrome piece, were the seat hinge is. Here are two pics of 73-80 seats.
1st pic is a Chevy
2nd pic is a GMC
