Re: PO has me PO'd

Got to play w/ the jimmy alittle...71 Rat out of NJ posted up a great thread on the PU side. Shows ya how to mount a J@@p electric fan in our factory shroud for under 50 bucks. Soooo, with that in mind I started to trim off 2" to get some extra clearance....
At the risk of being called a showoff, I will post pics LOL

Also got some time to play with Jon's new wood bed kit, he even bought the polished hardware kit(looks like chrome) If you plane a radius on the bottom side ends, it fits alot tighter to the last crossmember and bulkhead.
Second time I typed this, a freak lightning storm blew thru and I lost power

Jim- I have to go look at stains....I was going to take these towards light cherry anyway.....may wind up not mattering. The wood and cross sills are from Mar-K and I'm pretty impressed with everything I've gotten from them.

I'll grab a couple colors and spot test them on the underside of one darker and one lighter board and see what we get.

Yeah, I was very impressed with quality of the wood bed kit!!! Dun two so far...
While your there, see if you can find the tubes of tint, couple 3 oz. size. Then you can make it any color you want, to match from dark to light. Once you get your recipe, write it down, so you don't forget the recipe Don't ask me how I know. Then it doesn't matter what color wood they send ya

How was Carlisle, any treasures? Post up some pics, these guys will flame ya w/o pics

Is the bed still standing? I've got to drille the holes for the bedsides, crossmembers only thing holding it. Speaking of that, please get me the part number for the short cross pcs. between the wheelhouses, I want to order two. You should too, it will spread the load out better than those 1 1/4" fender washers, even doubled up they still mushroom

Re: PO has me PO'd

They make reinforcing strips that you can put under the floor as well. I think the SWB had one of them originally. MY PO added a steel plate between the wheel wells and welded into the frame for more support.

Looks nice, im not sure how I want to do my bed. I have NOS black stained wood and a plain steel bolt kit but no metal strips right now.

That's what I have in mine, plain SS, but Jon is a showoff with polished...I think yours fits the W/T theme, I'd go with painted steel, JMHO to an airjockeyLOL

How was Carlisle?

Re: PO has me PO'd

Carlisle was very slow, I started a thread in the Event Coverage section....

Had a great time though and met a ton of guys. Got my parts ready now too...

What happened to your shroud? I just sold on the CPNE for $20....

as far as the truck, i'm starting to get fancier too... Just got NOS tailgate moldings and SS west coast JR mirrors, I was thinking about rhinolined strips. Someone on here did that but I never saw them installed..

Re: PO has me PO'd

That sounds cool for the bed rails, or powdercoat. Got any pics of the wood, I might stain mine black as my roof leaked on it again

That fan shroud was for mock up only, if it works I'll source out a better one. Just my luck a day late. Where are you getting all these parts from??

Sorry I missed Carlisle, but life got in the way

Re: PO has me PO'd

I picked up a nice shroud from a board member and mine had a small cack in it. I epoxied it and tried to sell at Carlisle....

lots of "tire kickers" this year. Not many wanted to part with their money.

I'm sure with you're busy with a new job and all...

I can try getting you a pic of my wood (that didn't sound good, good thing you're not Navy)

Did ya get the pine or oak, I got 2 bigs stains in the wood and I think black will cover them

I had to let the family go on vacation without me, no accrued time yet. But I was able to save my Oct. fishing trip, I'll be off probation by then

Jim,

Looks like Mar-K's part numbers for the reinforcement strips are 110438 (1pc. 72") and 110431 (2pcs. 50").

Let me know if you want them also- I'll order them in

"Good thing you're not Navy?" The Navy guy didn't offer pictures of wood.

that's who I bought my reinforcement strip from. I have an extra but it's bent like a banana (overzealous UPS loader).

Someone told me that the original wood was pine or yellow pine.

Number8 works for me, never thought about, but ya did have the best coffee (to this day) and food. Hauled enuff of it to the food locker. I was on the Guadalcanal, thought it was huge till one of our Aircraft carriers passed us at sea. Why do ya suppose they have a detachment of Marines standing on the front of your ships? LOL....

Re: PO has me PO'd

Ya, my last two ships were Aircraft Carriers and somehow I ended up in Air Dept with the wingnuts. Had to go up there when they upgraded to Flat panels for the LSO(Landing Signal Officer) displays. I was amazed at the size of the dirigible hangars. Even went over and saw the Hindenburg memorial. The school was in the Hindenburgs hangar. Thats the only time I've ever been there though. Now I'm back in my element, fixing stuff on all ships of all kinds. Even some Japanese JMSDF ships!
