Mike. I like the early 60's dash idea. I think it would be cool in a blazer. You could make it flow into the doors and toward the back seat.

Depends on what your going for... On cloud 9 you were shooting for a mostly stock looking vehicle... whats your goal with this truck? Mild or Wild?

Exactly. Depends on what you REALLY want/need out of this truck. Take a good hard look and then decide. Just want something fun and not overly complicated? Leave it stock-customized. Want something a little closer to over the top with no time/budget limits? Go all out custom.

mike - similar to the photo you posted; how about those six gauges in a straight line on a smooth, body-color painted dash with equally smooth center console, also painted body color?

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

Mike, my $.02, I've never been crazy about all the plastic on the square body trucks. Like the body style but not the dash. I love the early dashes myself. I've been looking at many different versions for my truck for quite a while. Just not overly crazy about the flat dash of the 67-72 trucks.

Here's a '59 Impala dash in a 67-72

and in a '59 Impala

I kinda like the '64 Nova dash - I think it'd look right at home in a truck

don't remember who's truck this is but it's an awesome ride - love the dash-not crazy about the console (too boxy)

this is an aftermarket Camaro dash, kinda like it, not sure it'd look right in a tall truck cab

and then I've thought about a "new looking" dash along the lines of many modern cars - this is in a GTO

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

I think a mid 60's GMC dash would look good. The Chevy dashes look good but the GMC only has one hump in it on the drivers side which I like better. I think it defines the gauge area and the smoothness on the passenger side gives it a finished look. The Chevy dashes with a hump on both sides leaves the passenger side looking like an after thought. I do not have pics but maybe someone can post a pic of a middle 60's GMC dash.

I'd say that changing the dash to anything else will be a custom touch that will separate the Peg from many other square bodies. Pick something you like, see what you can find and go from there. Might as well chop that OG one out this weekend and put some pics up!

I'll take your word for it. All I can tell you is I did a search for '63 Chevelle and this one popped up. The internet LIED!!!! Dang, that's the first time ever.

btw, it's fixed now.

Funny, looking at it VERY closely now, I can kinda make out the badge on the right side of the dash............... "Nova SS". Didn't catch that before.

Before you make any desicions on door panels and interior, contact Connor Sweet to have him do it for you!!!!! Check out the interior that he is doing for my Crew Cab.. He is also doing a little stuff for my Datsun too.

I am going to put a 64-66 Chevy dash in my 85 or 73-75 project. I am going to pass my current 85 to my oldest son(12) when he is old enough to drive.

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

been looking intoo a glass cockpit for a while , same as in an airplane and have the gauges made by a computerprogram
there whas a program that had that in some sony audio stuff (g force , speed through gps, and outside temperature stuff like that ) and there was some company that dealt in the fast and furious kindah stuff that had sumtin that you could hook up intoo the engine diagnostic plug but now canceled it , and there still is sumtin made for those high power diesels by banks but its a small add on thing so i havent gotten anywhere yet
it would be cool to just have a black dash with a big touchscreen that alows you to either select wat look gauges you want but allso move them around on the desktop
a lot of the more high tech european cars have sumtin like those virtual gauges in their dashes now

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

Well my good buddy Chip Fredrick (tireblazin) has offered to help me and let me use his shop to build Square Peg so Saturday night i loaded up all my tools out of the garage and got them moved out to Chip's shop ! Then Sunday we tore it up , we stripped the firewall , wiring, dash, fuel and Brake lines, fuel tank , motor mounts , steering box, glass, we made some great progress !
