The heater shutoff works properly so no hot water in the heater core but no cold air. Any ideas? My lines aren't getting cold or sweating under the hood. I'm guessing the compressor went bad and just isn't cycling the freon or compressing it? Any thoughts or guesses will help. Thanks in advance. I have about 8k miles on the a/c setup. And the compressor was used and now has a total of around 30k miles on it.
I would recommend checking it with a set of gauges. That way you know exactly what pressure you are getting with the clutch engaged. I am running a stock compressor on mine too with an older model Vintage air kit. It is very critical to have the correct gas on those systems. I had mine over charged just a little and it wouldn't cool correctly. I had to evacuate a little gas before it worked properly. I was only able to tell with gauges what the problem was.
FYI,
I picked up adapters for my old R-12 gauges on Amazon. They were cheap and kept me from having to buy a new set. Good luck Boynton

I'm in the same boat. Fairly busy and just trying to get things lined up to make all three days but maybe not.

Re: 1970 One Owner Short Step

Well I'm officially registered for Goodguys next weekend. If y'all are there swing by. I'll have this truck, my dads 71 short wide, and his 68 BBC Camaro.

Re: 1970 One Owner Short Step

Great looking truck!

Question... on your marker light gas fill, the filler neck is from a 2500 chevy truck, and the "cup" part that you welded to the fender is from an 06 ford truck? Any more pictures of the cup part?

Re: 1970 One Owner Short Step

Well after three years of planning I finally had enough time and money to pull off my center console. I didn't come up with anything original here but it turned out welll. It has a cup holder set from franks trucks and new trim ring. We smoothed out the grain and painted it the same colors as the truck.

I owe most of the credit to the guy that painted my truck. He lays down some great paint.

In other news I hope to have some pictures to share from Goodguys tomorrow. Here is a teaser from today!

Angry Re: 1970 One Owner Short Step

I decided to re-do my a/c lines where they connect to the compressor. I originally had a guy weld one the vintage air fittings to the original line, however I’m not sure they ever held really well. I found a company on eBay that sells really nice one piece aluminum fittings. I attached a picture of the part number as I ordered three sets to find this one. These came with all of the pieces needed to hook it up. I did all of this because I lost the Freon out of my truck last season. I was really excited to get the system running. Well that didn’t work out. Apparently I have a line or filter blocked with something because I am getting really high pressure on the low side and normal pressure on the high side. I pulled a vacuum a couple of times just to make sure with the same results. I guess I’m going to have to figure out where vintage air has their filters or common places where they clog up.

Yes it is. I think this is the first time all of them have been clean and in the same location at the same time. I had just finished wiping down the green truck and stepped back and saw this picture and thought it was too awesome not to share. My dad and I have built all four of these vehicles in the last 6 years. It’s been great to spend time with him and create some awesome rides.

That's great that you and your dad share this common interest and that you are close enough to work on them together. Enjoy the time you can spend on it with him because "project Evelyn" is going to take more and more of your time as she grows!
