Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Well the good news is i finally finished welding in the floor panels. The bad news is she wont start anymore. I suspect the battery to be near dead as the corrosion to the alternator is BAD!!!!! The wire was almost breaking by barely touching it. Either way I have a new Concour headlight wiring harness, headlight switch, and dimmer switch here waiting to be installed. I also ordered a new alternator wiring harness so i could get rid of all the crazy rigged up tap and bad wires. Just to be on the safe side I ordered a new solenoid as well. So soon ill be re-wiring all that junk and probably charging the battery.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Looks like it's coming together man. While my '78 C10 is in the shop trying to get healed from it's hard shifting and odd speedometer issue, I'm looking for a '69 fastback to work on. I'm still learning about cars but I figure with a Chevy in the garage and a Ford, I'll eventually learn a thing or two! Ha ha.

Yeah, from my experience the fords are a little more complicated. Especially the wiring

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Changing a timing chain on a 289/302 is one of the biggest pain in the ass things I've ever done. Everything has a specific order it has to come apart and go back together and almost every part fits over another part... etc...

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Well ordered some used CONTINENTAL CONTIPRO CONTACT tires. 225/45/17 for the front and 245/45/17 for the rear. I plan to try to work on the wiring this weekend and get her back up and running. Well hopefully....You never know and it may take longer then i expect

Been on vacation (FINALLY) for the past couple weekends, spent a full 8 days in Destin, FL. After I finish the paint and trim on the bonus room above the garage the 65 is getting new suspension stuff.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Is your car a ***** to start? My C10 sat just as long as the Mustang, and she fired right up yesterday after two pumps. I had to pump the crap out of the mustang, then it started, died, then started up again. I also have to hold the pedal down 1/4 of the way to start it when it's hot (it's actually a ford procedure, it will not start unless I do that). I guess it's the manual choke carb vs the electric choke edelbrock on my truck. Carb is rebuilt and works great, timing is good, car runs great, just doesn't like to start. If I drive it everyday, it will start right up when cold, but sitting 3, 4 or more days and it takes a good bit of cranking/pumping.

On the mustang side, I found this but it's still expensive. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/4103898663.html. I wish the fastbacks weren't so much. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
The mustang has always been really easy to start. 3 pumps and it fires right up. My truck can be a problem though so yeah... Now if i can fix the wires and charge the battery it will start again

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)
Do you know if you have a "modern" carb w/ electric choke (like edelbrock/holley, etc) or if it's the original Ford autolite?

Yeah, and a "V", too, you know, for any part of your body that may start with that letter!! Congratulations, though. Always a big step with all the crazy rules about registering something from out of state.
