Re: Ian's Tennessee Honey '64 Short Box Step-side - England
Very nice job Ian . There can't be much left on that cab you haven't repaired . Looks like you are getting there though. Will we all be done by the end of the year though that's the big question.

Truck wise I’ve had a bit of a “slow start” to 2017, I managed to get a piece of rusty metal in my eye, which resulted in a 6 hour visit to the ER. The metal was dug out but the wound ended up becoming infected so I’ve been sporting an eye patch. Which I thought made me look like this But my wife reckoned I looked more like this Oh, and I had a chest infection too. Anyway, I finally got back on the truck last weekend and got the pillar repair finished, if I say so myself it may be the best repair on the truck so far. So back onto the door I got from Rian, the media blasting had revealed more holes than expected in the door. Don (Ta2Don) had supplied a repair patch so I just had to decide what to weld up and what to patch.

Re: Ian's Tennessee Honey '64 Short Box Step-side - England
The two worst, most distorted sections of the door were cut out and I made repair pieces from the patch,
the rest of the holes would be welded up. This is as far as got on Sunday the welds will require a fair bit of metal finishing but at least all of the welding is done on the door.

Sorry about the eye Ian, and this chest infection thing really is a bugger.
You have done very well with the repair. At least you have thick metal now.

Sorry to hear about your eye . I've been there and done that myself. I have to agree with your wife on the way you look with a patch though. Good start on the door

Re: Ian's Tennessee Honey '64 Short Box Step-side - England
I’ve finally got the door finished and ready for primer, the last few weeks have been bash-fill-sand ….Repeat , I’m so glad it’s done.
I also need to paint the door shut before I hang the door, I began prepping it a few weeks ago and discovered bondo in the windscreen pillar (oh dear) a bit of grinding revealed the drip rail was rotten. Luckily once it was removed the actual windscreen pillar turned out to be solid (albeit a little pitted). I ordered new ones from Steve Lang at Langy’s Rod Shop, sadly Steve passed away shortly afterwards following a long battle with cancer and the world lost another great hotrodder and all round good guy (RIP Steve). Using the old rail as a template I drilled holes in the new rail to “spot weld” them on. The welding was a very straight forward task, however, finish grinding was a bit of a pain as the access is tight. I read a number of threads where the owners had used panel adhesive to attach the drip rails, I’ve never used it before so “bottled it”. I may give it a try on the other side (if it needs doing) Anyway it’s fitted and seam sealed, next job is to prep and paint the door shut.

I agree that it is looking good and I've still got body work to do too if I ever get that far.

Nice repair to that door Ian, but why does everyone want to cut great big speaker holes in them!

Great repair on the door . All I can say is there is more getting on up north than down south . You and bill are really starting to make headway.

I am closing the holes in my doors as well when I get to them. That door repair really looks great Ian. I think our excuse down South is that we have both had stuff happen and continue happening behind the scenes that needs tending, taking Focus away from hobbies. I really do hope Martin posts up a 10 photo report or more than that of the one project he has been on recently. You guys will be blown away. I certainly was.
