Re: 1978 GMC Build!

So question. What size tip are you using and how does it lay down? Does it flatten out good after it dries?

Damn that is bright!! It looks a lot brighter than the sample. Is it single stage or bc/cc?

I used a 1.4 tip. It did lay down smooth. It has flattening agents added to it already, so it has a matte finish.

It is a single stage low gloss system.

Slowly getting things painted. New (used)radiator support painted, old one was missing the entire bottom corner under the battery tray.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

I wanted the radiator support all black. I have seen some painted body color and to me it doesn't look right. But that's just me. I am however using all stainless bolts to put everything back together. That's one of the perks working for a hardware store.

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Not a lot new guys. But im starting to gather new interior parts and want feed back. Interior is going to be saddle colored. like the seat color. so what steering wheel would go best. Light or Dark

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Good work man. Take all the time you need -- glad to see you popping in still with updates. Keep in mind that timelines are as individual as our trucks are.

I'll be honest that your truck totally grabbed me with it dropped, Cragars, and that blue and white paint. I woulda drove it that way til the bed fell off, got a rope, dragged it home, tacked it back together, and did it again. That looked so cool to me, rust and all. But that's just me -- but you've got me thinking about seeing if the Cragars on my old Cutlass will fit my yellow/white '83, but that blue/white/Cragars really got me.

Your rig is coming together and is way ahead of the level you predicted when you started. Once again, the individuality is part of what makes all this cool. Nice work!

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Update
pulled engine and transmission from the frame for frame cleanup and engine cleanup. Motor is cleaned and painted. Question of the day is what valve cover and air cleaner to go with. Black with polished fins, or fully polished, ready ..set..go!!

Re: 1978 GMC Build!

Polished. I'm not a fan of black engines and so on. That color on the engine looks awesome.
