Re: Another Blue Chevy

Sad news . Sunday I was gonna take the Wife to breakfast to our favorite restaurant for our last Sunday breakfast there cause they are closing Tuesday. Problem compounded when the '35 would not start. We still got to go . We just had to take the Blazer instead.

Re: Another Blue Chevy

When we got back to the house I took the flywheel cover off to find the problem. The starter drive had lost the bushing and was tearing up my ring gear. I had another flywheel ,so I went back to the NAPA store I retired from in April and used their flywheel grinder to machine it . Now to take it all apart again and fix it.

Re: Another Blue Chevy

Sunday I machined a flywheel from my old '67 stepside that I had changed out in 2007 from a 250 6cyl with car four speed to a 350/TH400 but when I pulled the clutch and flywheel out of the '35 I found it had a 10" pressure plate with a 9" disc. I put a 11" back in its place. Also replacing the starter.

Exclamation Shredded Ring Gear

YIKES ! .

Did you use a Rockford or Diaphragm clutch cover ? .

I love the Diaphragm typ and just installed one today, it's fantastic .

I bet you'll never wear out that 11" clutch .

11" LUK raised diaphragm , works real good. I hope to never have to pull the transmission again.

Post Clutch Choices

That's a diaphragm typ clutch cover, isn't it wonderful to have a solid grippy clutch you can feather or dump that's so soft (pedal effort) and linear in it's action ? .

I became aware of these in my long gone 1946 Chevy 3100 series shop truck when the Rockford cover failed shortly after I purchased the truck .

Now I'm hooked on them .

LUK seems to be a good brand, i also like/use/recommend F & S .

Re: Another Blue Chevy

Had to reorder a starter because the first one was drilled wrong. The upper threaded ear was in the wrong position. After three tries I gave up . When I got the second one it bolted right up.

Today I added a hood ornament. My wife has been wanting me to do this for a while now. I finally found one she liked. I wanted Wiley Coyote riding a rocket. (she said no to that.)

Nate did you get the ornament and if so was it a decent quality?
... I've had to hard mount mine to the grille surround cause the new radiator has a cap mounted in the engine compartment. I was to trying figure out how to do it . I had an extra radiator cap that was inoperable so I drilled a hole through it and used a stud to mount it under the other to hold it on. I cut out a rubber pad from a sheet of rubber. I am pretty sure this will work just fine.
