Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

thanks, it's crazy time consuming though, if I had your fab skills I'd shave the drip rail but it's too risky of a job for me and I kind of like the look

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

Looks great! It's tedious, boring work. I just use a new twisted brush wire wheel...don't even bother to chisel....just throw caulking all over the place with the wheel

I feel your pain brother, This is a LOT of work. You are doing a great job and that engine is dead sexy

I didn't see if you got a solid answer on that rear so here is what I know- The stamping on the ring gear (also on pinion) where it says 11:41 is the number of teeth on the gears 11 on the pinion and 41 on the ring, so 41 divided by 11 = 3.7272727 aka 3.73:1 ratio.

Keep up the good work you have a nice build going on up there! I'll be watching.

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

thanks, I didn't get as nice of a strip on it and will have to redo it just wanted it sealed prior to storing it until the weather gets better, forgot how tedious bodywork is and how much seam sealer they use on these old trucks, atleast I'm in no rush haha

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

POR-15 on the floors first coat I'll add pics tonight if I get a chance and the color scheme is going to be semi gloss black interior and engine bay with a drab army green body, possible some hand painted shop truck doors by my tattoo artist, nice weather has me gettin after it a bit more, flipping the cab tomorrow night to finish the under dash por15 coat then onto firewall shaving and bodywork, where can I source a good body bolt kit?

Re: Finally starting the 68swb fleet

still too lazy to update pics but I have done a little more, today I'm stripping firewall cowl paint and sanding the dash, possibly another light spot coating of bondo and begin the porterbuilt firewall kit, ordered a pneumatic board sander to help the bpodywork process, and scored a working factory tach dash in the local classifieds, tomorrow I'll update some pics, been way too lazy for that but have been updating my facebook with them
