Thanks Rich, I love that the pumps are still there, kinda gives it a nice touch!

Gas station is right in Warrensburg. along the road behind Lowes.

Re: Project "Sweet 16"

Wow, thanks all. Apparently my email notices quit working, I didn't realize there were so many responses.

We're headed up to Iowa at the end of the month for a 375 mile shakedown run. Almost the same distance as it is to Power Tour.

Skyman,

Do you have any more pics of the gauge cluster conversion you did? It looks just like what I will need to do also! How much were the auto meter gauges?

Re: Project "Sweet 16"

Some new pics... Here's the barnwood bed, and I wound up breaking down and getting an aluminum rad and water pump. rad was only $156 shipped, water pump was $52 shipped. I can't get the thing over 160 degrees now! Love it.

And here's photographic evidence of the old girls flawless 740 mile round trip through the Heartland last weekend... 65-70 mph all day, zero defects.

Nothin' says driven like bugs on the windshield!

Re: Project "Sweet 16"

Atomik... Gauges were the designer series black (cheapest ones). I used all electric (mechanical won't work because of the way they "float" in the gauge cup). I think my total cost was around the $200 mark. I just carefully cut the plastic cups off, then used 2 part expoxy to mount them to the backs of the original faceplates. Once all the gauges were epoxied to the plates, I soldered wire to all the pins, then marked it and ran it through a hole in the back.

I did have to make a small plate to tie the four original faceplates together. I think I posted all the pics I have of it, but I'll dig around for some more.
