Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.

He guys! Well, I was gonna try and upload pictures but my computer wasn't allowing me to upload pictures from my phone! Never had problems before. Stupid technology! Anyhow, the motor is In, but the stupid heavy pos fought me in every way possible. Spent all day saturday trying to get the motor and trans together(took 3 of us) and then we realized you have to have the clutch fork in before you put the trans in. All leads to a Stupid bell housing design. Anyhow, I think I have found a way to make it work so I don't have to cut the cross member and yard the tranny and engine out AGAIN. I'll take more pics and hopefully this dumb thing will work. What a pain in the a$$ this stinkin thing was. Will be down for a few as I am beat and under the weather. Later guys.

It is big and heavy for sure. haha Even though it has a lot of bore spacing the water jackets are right there. This engine was built with water jackets big enough to stick your hand in! Darn motor holds like 10 gallons of water! haha It is strong for sure. Good motor when it runs well but can be a bit of a pain if you've never worked on one.

No I haven't, I am using non-magnum gaskets and due to the limited cam flow I think porting would be a waist. Ran like a top and burned clean so I'm happy.

I am surprised it was sparying oil off those rockes. I've never run one like that becaue it always made a mess without valve covers.

Nice Job TJ.

Yeah, these older engines tend not to have that issue. Once it is warmed up though it will oil the top end better. I have a quart of Lucas in it now. Should be driving in the morning!

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.

No pictures or video yet, but I took Crustine for a ride today. Having adjustment problems(or it's me) with my clutch as it doesn't want to shift very well into gear, but it's fine going through the gears. Will try more throw tomorrow and see if that helps. Also need to figure out my fan as it seems to be blowing more air upwards rather than forwards, but the engine hasn't gotten to Norm yet so I think we'll be ok as it seems that came with a fan like that. Have to fix an exhaust leak at the manifold to pipe flange and we should be good to go!
