Re: 58 GMC Project
Thanks for the pic. someone tried to install swing pedals in it at some point and cut up the firewall a little bit along with some of the drip rail(?) on the firewall. I was just going to cut out the pieces and weld in flat metal pieces but I think the cover would be easier. I can fix the drip rail pretty easy I think. I`ll definatly start a new thread when I get mine and post some pics. My progress will be alot slower than yours. The good thing about mine is the body is already off so it will save me some disassembly time and the body is really clean. I did`nt see any rot but it could be lurking around under there somewhere. Thanks again for the pic.

Hey Kabwe, I did not go to Brothers. It would have been a 700 mile round trip on what would have been a short weekend. Next year for sure! Do you have any updated pics of your truck?

Re: 58 GMC Project
Yeah I do I just have not had any time to upload them to my site. I'll try to get on that. I'm taking many build pics because I have a couple of friends that like to see how I do stuff. I think I will be painting this truck myself also. I have not done that in a while but I always do all my body work (I don't trust anyone to care as much as I do) so painting should be a breeze. We will see how it goes. I'm still a long ways off. I just brought a bunch of tools (2 stage air compressor and a 220 mig welder) so I can get busy even when money is low.lol

Re: 58 GMC Project
CAL 58, whats the specs of your rear wheels? I know your running a s-10 rearend but I must have missed the wheel specs. Do they fit in the wheel well? do you need tubs? Have you fit the bed with them on? I`m just trying to get a idea for what fits without too much mods. I`m probably only going to run 17`s but I still like to know what fits in these old trucks. I like your idea of running the s-10 rearend and might consider that as well since they are fairly easy to find out here. Thanks.

Re: 58 GMC Project
I had to change to the mounting brackets for the alternator to balance out the air conditioning compressor & alternator. I went with the top mount set up from Billet Specialties. I had to change the fuel filter and fuel line. I'm also changing from a mechanical fan do an electrical one. I have the fan but I am waiting on the aluminum shroud I ordered.

Re: 58 GMC Project
Great looking detail on you engine. I noticed in a previous page of yours you were taking your cab in to get the floor and underneath sandblasted. Is there a reason that you didn't get the entire cab blasted. Only reason I'm asking is because I'm ready to take my cab in and I want to do it right. I heard blasting will warp the metal.

Re: 58 GMC Project
I could have sworn I left a comment already about your last pics???? Either way, it looks better all the time. I bet I am almost as excited about your cab being ready as you are! I can't wait until you get that sucker back in color!
