Either you have done a very deep background search or lucked out. My dad drove for Anchor Motor Freight for many years delivering new GM vehicles to dealers. At one time I had the driver's copy of the shipper for every car he delivered. Anchor ran short nose 90/9000 Chevy and GMC trucks that were heavily modifed by the upfitter that also manufactured the trailers. From the SPID it appears that the pusher axle was also installed by them and not a factory installation. "SHUTTERS-RADIATOR" are thermostatic slats (like window blinds)used to control cooling airflow through the radiator. These trucks were used in temperatures from -30*F to a 100*F or so. They had maximun cooling with a block heater to warm them up (actually barely) and shutters to keep from overcooling the engines. Here is a picture I grabbed a while back of probably a Tarrytown based Anchor Motor Freight rig.

I had two uncles that drove for the FJ Boutell Company out of Flint, Michigan. In fact, one of my uncles loaned the money to Mr Boutell to start the company. Ever hear an old wive's tale, about a truck driver that stripped the top off a Buick show car by hitting an overpass? That was my Uncle Joe....his relationship with Mr Boutell probably saved his job that day. K

Of course that's still way less than a new LTZ Silverado. I drive a $45K 2013 2500 GMC Sierra that has crank windows (work truck). It has the duramax but still- a $45K truck should NOT have crank windows. I didn't even think you could get them any more. I'd give my fleet manager sh*t for optioning it that way but then he'd probably say, "OK, power windows with a Vortec next time!" (and to keep the thread on topic, I actually took a picture of the SPID in the new one and broke down all the RPO's when I got it!) |

Hey Tim, It's a GMC with a plaid highlander seat. GMC Highlander, very rare.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Here is the one from my 69 C10 stepside. Also has just the plate from the protecto, mice got the rest. Image is flipped so it is readable.
Originally a Pacific Telephone & Telegraph truck. Would love to find some vintage pics of my truck or one like it. Special paint was an olive green that can be seen in the first pic. Anybody know what any of the other numbers on the protect-o-plate stand for?

Re: SPID Picture thread?
I am new here and bought this truck for my dad recently but I turned around and bought him a new truck instead, so I may be selling this one. Original drive train to the truck by looking at the date codes. It is still wearing its original Hugger Orange paint, markings still on firewall, I took off the inner fenders for cleaning underneath and I noticed factory marking on the fenders. This thing is super clean and no rust.

Re: SPID Picture thread?
Thanks Ray, I told the guy that and he kept arguing with me on the facebook page for this site. I ended up pulling up old threads showing him and then he finally gave in. I thought I lost my mind, granted alot has gone on in my mind the last year and half. I have another guy telling me you could get a BB in a 4x4 and I told him NO. He doesn't believe me either. It will be all good though, Thanks Randy

Here is a truck I recently picked up. Been looking for an orange truck for a while. It has some unusual options.
