Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

3.08 gear and 700r4. Pulled rad today put isolators behind fans and a variable fan control in. Trying to get damn temp gauge to work. Wanted to go to GG but gonna rain big thru 2 tomorrow. Will be at Riverside with both trucks. Had boys out last night in it, tires are smoothing out, it'll be a nice hi way cruiser. Settled in good at 75-80. Chased a Mustang down the backroad to the house, boys got a kick out of that.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Well, we went to Goodguys and had a ball. Rolled out there with the boys singing Joe Walsh songs all the way, burbling along at 82 mph, no problems. Boppa took it home with him, and it burbled on home. We may get to drop it yet, we think due to the frame straightening the alignment is wonky, but not terrible. So we may drop it a bit in the process of tuning that up. LBT IS HOME! I forgot how much I liked that truck. Gotta clean like crazy now for next weekend. Hopefully will post up pics tonight. Thanks again for all the props and support throughout, guys.

Well, I've been promising long enough, here's some pictures!

Boppa after we stripped the Al's off the tailgate. We had some delam problems, so we stripped the whole thing.

New Al's on the tailgate. Still don't have the whole bed shot. They're a tad optimistic on their coverage estimate.

It's truly amazing what you have done! That's one bad a$s truck you've built! American pride

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Job well done! For sure something to hang your hat on and a great experience for you and The Kid. That little stint is going to be priceless man! My Pa bought a '65 GTO brand new with all the bells. He's not much into cool cars anymore but if he was I'd love to spend some time with him like you've gotten to with Boppa. HIP-HIP-HOORAY! See you over at LBT!

Thanks guys! Boppa went to have the tires balanced and found a bent rim! We have a spare, though. It'll give him something to chew on!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Got the rest of the Al's liner shot last night, turned out ok. That has been an experience, I'll tell you. My ulcer has almost quit throbbing! Had some headlight issues that we think got solved with a new bulb, we hope. JL, we didn't get vid, but Boppa hisself lit 'em up rollin' out last night! He has found that yeller will light 'em up from a 20 mph roll and has been enjoying himself, apparently!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Glad to hear you got it running right and that you guys are getting it around a bit for folks to see. We were running around yesterday and passed up a couple small shows but were just too damn busy to stop. I am soooo anxious to be driving mine .

Would you recommend doing epoxy primer before or after seam sealer? I'll follow both of those up with a high build. Also, the steel wheels I bought came in some kind of primer. They look ( . )( . ) but do you think I need to scuff them and put more primer on before topcoat or can I just wash them and wipe them down?

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

I usually etch if I'm gonna just straight paint something. If more work is needed, I'll epoxy, then hi build. I'd seam seal between epoxy and hi build. I'd just scuff and shoot the wheels. I love those deep barrels!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck

Doing good, mileage hasn't improved like we'd hoped with the 700r4. Pass seat adjuster has quit, stereo won't quit buzzing, friggin LMC headlight relay kit works when it wants to, annnnd, the front brakes won't release. We don't know why. Boppa has done new bearings and rotors and bled the fronts. I think the prop valve is stuck. IDK, I haven't gone up there to see yet. Just shakedown stuff.
