Put this bad boy in the low buck build thread as well. Killer truck man. I like it. I'm not a big 4x4 guy, bad luck with a few, but I like your truck non the less. Killer.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
Been trying to keep at the 4x4 been starting her up everyday to keep me motivated. I also have a small side grade to my property that i have been romping up when pulling it around just to get that thrill going!
Today I was able to work on it a little bit still just preparing for the brakes i was able to get rebuild kits for the front wheel cylinders witch i got all wrapped up. then i tore into the old re-done brake lines witch are in rough shape so i'm redoing everything new i got the front half all pulled down. After the brakes i need to get a tune up, air cleaner, dimmer switch, pvc valve and O ring, 2 small exhaust hangers, ground the tail lights and bolt the bed down (lol..) and im sure a handful of things before shes road worthy.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
Thanks buddy! Me and you gotta meet up i would love to take a road trip up your way with the 4x4 one day.
I actually got a little bit of a surprise today i looked up the serial number on my block. The P.O told me it was a new 350 crate motor that he payed to get put in 15-20 years ago witch he had only put 10-15k on since. Turns out its a 62-67 327! Witch makes me super happy i love having something different and more period correct to the truck seeing how i wouldn't want that 305 in there anyhow!

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
further research has come to disappoint me i had looked up the motor serial number from a sticky note in one of the repair manuals the PO gave me it read dells new motor #3959512 witch brings up the 327 on a Google search from there i became interested in the heads and when i learned they were nothing special i figured i better check the number on the actual motor turns out its a 79 350 out of a impala or camaro here's the numbers 3970010 K0330DRH 19L600051 and the heads are supposedly the worst ever made lol 462624.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
Well its better then a 305 for starts! And I would get a set of Edelbrock heads and give that block some fuel! P.S. (Better than a 265!!! HAHAHAH!!)

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
LOL yeah its nothing to complain about for sure. Yeah i think i need to look into some heads for sure i read that the heads i have are prone to cracking. The low miles gives me piece of mind that i still have some time but i need a toy that goes real fast

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
Ya those heads are junk, prone to cracking and large 76cc combustion chamber, install a set of Vortec heads and matching intake will perk it right up. Good block # though, they were used in 327 and 350 configuration.

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
well boys she made it i cant believe how fast it is that 3rd gear lasts for days. on the free way ear plugs are a must but she cruises at 85-90 with ease. I'm so happy with how it turned out its everything i wanted!

Re: 1960 GMC K1000 4x4
thanks guys and yes it feels so good to drive it i will post a video of me running through the gears soon. i had the camera set up today on my way to work but i wasn't going to shoot the video till my way home. i wish i would have turned it on. getting on the free way i had my foot in her and lost the drive line everything but the u joints where missing haha and in my typical lucky fashion i had a highway patrol roll up on me who lucky wasn't a dick he shoved me to the next exit and into a parking lot then i had two guys roll up who towed me home.
(Note to self get the dam front drive line on haha!)
