Here is some of my photos of my 55 Chevy big cab project
its been a year since I started on my truck Ive had the truck for 5 years, its been sitting in the weather all that time before I was able to get it to a dry place to work on.
I have made a great deal of progress in a year it's amazing what you can do when its something that you love, I have been able to put a portion of my paycheck into my project every week that helps a lot.I just got my cab back the other day
I am going to install my bumper and radiator supports next so I can take my frame to get it powder coated.

This is my project. Since this picture I have added the bed and added the wheel tubs. Still have to install aluminum in the bed. Also needs interior, bumpers and rear glass as well as mount the tail gate and paint and install the hood. Blue tape is to protect the edges while I color sand and buff.

also where did you get that thermostat housing with the temp gauge on it? Am I seeing that right?

They are up for grabs, unfortunately they are 6 lug, and I have converted to 5 on 5. I got em new in 1970. They are Carroll Shelby wheels, 15X8 with neutral backspacing. They lined up with the edges of the wheel well.
5 on 5 is what the new to me rear is, 72 chevy pickup 12 bolt, so I finagled a set of rotors that would work with the G body metric front spindles that are drilled for 5 on 5.
The tires are BFG 275/60/15.
I would have loved to keep em, I could have used spacers up front, but clearance is tight in the rear.

i'm 5 4/34 I have tried to find a way to get back to 6 5.5 and haven't found a reasonable way yet... I going to a 4x4 s10 chassis in the near future but again they are the same 5 4 3/4... what are you asking for them? just for kicks.. can't really use them

If you used S-10 axles, the tires would stick in too far. With a 5 to 6 lug one inch spacer, you could space the hub out to look right and then use 6 lug wheels.

I would probably let them go for $100 each without tires. I had them polished, so they are pretty reflective. It's been 25 years since the polish job, but they've looked great the whole time.
Since the tires are pretty good, I guess $75 each for the tires.
They would come with lug nuts and locks and caps.
I couldn't find new carroll shelby cap stickers, so when I replaced the caps I just used American Racing stickers.

They would have to be rebalanced since I balanced them assembled with wheels, tires, nuts, locks, drums and hubs.
Those old original chevy drums are terrible for balance. With the overdrive, at 75 mph, you want em to not bounce.

In fact, there are a lot of things I can't use anymore. If you need something, ask, I might have it. drums, bearings, kingpins, engine, 3 speed, column shifter, etc. I have another perfect virgin dash as well.
Maybe I should buy a truck and put everything on that one.............oh well.

Here is the start of my project. Plans are for a four door crew cab, rear doors opening in the same fashion as the front, riding on the stock frame with a series II Jag IFS and a Holden Crewman 4:1 leaf sprung LSD rear. All powered by a 2007 4.2l Trailblazer inline 6, backed by a 2500 stall Turbo 350 trans. Low as legally allowed.

lOOKS LIKE A NICE PROJECT. i would change your trans from a 350 to a 700R4 for 2 reasons, 3.07:1 low gear and overdrive.
Don't know what your roads look like over there, but if you spend any time in your new hot rod, you will enjoy the gas mileage and lower sound levels, along with your engine lasting almost twice as long because it isn't turning as fast all the time.

Thanks Coupeguy, it will certainly be consideration for the future. I've had the 350 for a number off years now without using it so now is as good a chance as ever and the truck is being pieced together on a relative budget, and I already had that bit so it all helps. It will be interesting to see how long I last before switching it out though!

Just started my 51 chevy project this summer. Will be doing the S-10 swap. Cab floor and firewall are mostly done now.
I'm working on doing the bodywork the fenders. Planning on building my own bedsides, front panel and tailgate.

I do kind of like it...one side is blue, the original color, and the side in the pix is almost green...unfortunately, there is way more of a rust coating than there is remaining paint. Since it will be a daily driver (April-Oct.) I will need to paint it!!

I see you have the same camaro front in your truck as I have. With the wide frame in the front, here is what I did to taper my radiator supports. it took a lot of fabricating but I made it work I wanted the camaro year that had the level front and not so flared.You did a nice job.

wilberweb........from 1 oregon boy to the other, nice truck. finally getting the camaro clip put together this wknd. on mine. excited to finally start the ball rolling! heck who knows...by this time next year i might have a rolling chasis and the body on it.keep on truckin, you got a heck of alot more done than me!
