Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Painted the master cylinder yesterday and mocked it up with brake lines. Still need to polish the aluminum plug in the firewall, then it will be ready to bleed the system. It's been 5 years since this truck has had working brakes, or has moved under it's own power, soon it will again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I got a 1963 c20 in may of 2013. I let the truck sit and ran it matey 2 times in a year. I replaced the fuel pump and gave er fresh gas and charged the brand new battery I got with the truck. It was flat out dead from playing music without starting it. I charged it just enough to start the truck. I drove it just down the road. I came back shut her off and 10 minutes later came to start it again. It cranked and the battery died. Why won't she start!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I did quite a lot today, and by that I mean I did nothing. Last Friday was the productive day. I spent most of the day doing prep work on the passenger front fender for the rattlecan spray. I don't have the means to paint the entire truck yet.
I have a long way to go... Oh well. At least it runs and stops now. Friday was also my bday. Dad gave me plates and duct tape. If you don't understand the reference, TX GOOSE means two things: TX stands for Theatre Xavier (at St Xavier HS) and Goose is my nickname. There is a Maverick.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Installed the hei in the 250 today. Seems to run a lot smoother. And got the truck ready for our family trip! I'll post pics of the trip.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
We put the bed back on the truck yesterday. I think it was about 3 years ago last time it was there. It was green then too. We started to just do a little rocker panel repair and it turned into a full blown restoration and color change. If we keep going we may even drive it again in a few years.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Awaiting arrival of PB front control arms.
Catching up a bit: 3 days ago: Removed left side front upper control arm, master cylinder, brake lines... observed a fully leaking transmission. 2 days ago: Removed left side spark plugs and header, removed left side lower control arm and spindle. Noticed loose speedo cable, tightened. Yesterday: Removed right side spark plugs and header, placed ratchet strap under motor across frame in prep for crossmember removal. Noticed no new tranny fluid. Also, greased up my jack wheels. You'll notice I'm only talking about the left side. My truck, being backed into a crammed two car garage, is up against the wall on the right side. For some reason, I didn't think about how I was going to remove the right side front suspension before I got going. Now I need to slide the truck over, without a left front. I picked up some cheap wheel dollies from HF for the rear, and I'm going to attempt moving it over on the jack... wish me luck. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I got the fenders years ago from TUCKERS Trucks here in Las Vegas. They are OK. Not happy with eyebrows. They cut corners to make bend. Try Goodmark. I plan on checking out theirs as my paint Guy told me to get a tailgate from our local dealer.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
I drove my 66 GMC (zombie truck) 40 miles to a auction sale. It was a liquidation of a 90+ year hoarders estate. Ispent $225 and loaded the old truvk to the gills and have to go back for another load. I scored a 454 engine that was last run as a power unit on LP $125. A torn down 366 and 5 speed trans$40 and a John Deere 6 cyl gas power unit for $30 and two truckloads of bad tires on good rims. the rims are 8 hole 16inch tubeless rims three are single and a dozen dulleys. there was several pretty sad cars & trucks I didn't buy any of them.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.
Got right side suspension removed.
Removed 8/14 bolts from the crossmember. Didn't notice the last 6 until after I finished up for the day. Know where to start tomorrow. |
