You have any idea of the front width?

Re: AD Truck Project
The welders series site says 56in track width.
I just double checked my crossmember and it is the 58in one. I can get the 56in pieces to go with what I have for about $100 shipped.

Re: AD Truck Project
The main part of the crossmember is too wide. It is the 58in not the 56. I never thought till last night to use the number that was written on it lol. It is all good though. For a little under 100 I can get the parts to do a 56in and reuse the top control arm mounts etc. So no biggie. I will just save the other part for a later project.
We traded our 73 green truck for a 58ish big back window cab with doors and glass, and possibly a partial bed a few months ago but have not got it yet. I think that wider crossmember will fit it. Saturday I will be out of town, but if yall are out and about Sunday I will try to come down. What no eye protection? :P

Re: AD Truck Project
I've got where I wear a pair of glasses or shades under my shield because I have had things bounce back under my shield and get pretty darn close.
I will just text y'all and see what is going on, on Sunday. I race this weekend and next, then off the 11th, then the final two races ending on Sept 25th. Hopefully with a decent amount of $ in hand lol.

Re: AD Truck Project
A friend from work helped me unload it at lunch, so it is safe and sound inside. As soon as I have the truck and parts in the same place and some progress pics I will be sure to post them.

Re: AD Truck Project
I finally got around to measuring the rearend. It is 64inches wms to wms give or take a hair. The stock track width of this trucks is around 59.5. So, how would the 2.25in narrower per side work out? I mean, the narrower track width would probably help if I set it up with a really low ride height and want to still be able to turn.

Re: AD Truck Project
Update.
Looks like I am being gifted 2 15x8 rallys for the truck. I swear the Oklahoma guys are some of the most generous and helpful you will ever meet. I will be hard pressed to ever fully repay them. At least they do accept bbq as thanks. I am about 85% sure I will not use the 4x4 s10 rearend I have. If I do not, I will offer it up on our pass it forward free to donate to someone. It is the least I can do. A friend of my dads has been wanting to help him with some things. My dad is pretty standup guy and helped a lot of people and is getting some of that returned. The guy has the front of my gmc rigged up to roll, and they will be delivering it to my house either Sunday or Monday. To make this post official, here is a pic of it the day we got it.

Re: AD Truck Project
Glad to hear you have some momentum rolling man. Especially after the whole a/c ordeal.
I have to agree with you that the local guys around here are some of the best. Not only are they great friends, but extremely helpful as well. One of the many things I love about Oklahoma! |

Re: AD Truck Project
The truck was already trailored about 830 this morning. So, it should be up here early afternoon. My garage is about ready, and fingers crossed it fits lol. I had my old frame in there with some room to spare, so it should fit.

Re: AD Truck Project
I use the phrase "one of these days" a lot. Well, today was one of those days. The truck is in the garage.
Distance to my project is no longer an excuse. Neither is time. Skill and money are still useable lol.

Re: AD Truck Project
Looks like some progress today. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I am using the, "I don't have room in my shop" excuse right now. Hope to put an end to that this fall/winter.

Re: AD Truck Project
Thanks.
The cab is about 98% de-turded. Some rats were eating pretty good. I do believe my truck was the final resting place for a cat. I found a collar and some leg bones lol. So, I may have to come up with a feline-like name for the truck while it is in ratty state.

Re: AD Truck Project
Mine is a true Rat truck too. What a smelly mess that was to clean. I think I will pass if I ever come across one of those deals again. But it is a solid cab.
Are you going to keep the fender mounted turn signals? I believe there is one in my shop that needs a good home. |

Re: AD Truck Project
Yup I am going to keep them. I had thought about shaving them but they are perfect for a front turn signal.
Mine was gross, but I have read about a lot worse on this forum.

Re: AD Truck Project
Sweet man glad to see it's home. I'm also glad to see it's sitting on a different stand than the blocks there beside it.
