ya man.i took it to the rock around the block main city cruise in downtown Gresham and won a sponser choice 1st place award. on monday i am taking the burb to Lonnie at Carolina kustoms in Portland to remove the garbage airbagit.com air ride system and replace it with a ridetech system. he is also going to be fixing my bump steer problem i have been having since day one.i cant go above 40 mph without wondering all over the road because the pressure in the gm powersteering pump is to high for the mustang 2 rack.i tried a use one of thses mullin/borgeson flow control valves with the spacers in it but it is to hard to fine tune.so i bought a heidt flow control valve and line kit from summit that has a manual in line adjuster valve on it.should have it back in about a week.

from what i know a thunderbird r&p is better suited for a gm pump.thats what mine is.

i havent been doing much to the suburban lately.i order an original style coated cardboard headliner.the plan is to take it to the uphostery shop in the next few weeks and get them cover in the same blue vinyle that the seats are done in.as far as the cut outs. i blew a fuse the first time i used them.i had to drive with open exhaust until i got to a friends house for about ten miles ,hoping i wouldnt see a cop. for some reason the factory had an in line 5 amp mini fuse. once i replace it with a normal size fuse block and a 20 amp fuse.i havent had a problem.after i get the headliner done.i am going to get the hood louvered.i dont think theres not enough air flow in the engine bay and once the outside temp get up to about 80 it knocks pretty hard. my tune guy said it might be to much static heat. i thought he was full of crap.but when its under 70 outside it runs perfect.i figure it may be worth a try for less then $100.anyone have any ideas beside timing or air fuel mixure?has anyone had simliar problems?

slam, I haven't had knockin but I get starting issues when it is really hot out. I've since put a phenolic spacer on my carb and insulated my fuel lines, and it has really helped. Also I run high test gas and it has really helped. I def think there are air flow issues and have thought that since day one. I'd try insulating your fuel lines, run the spacer (not aluminum) and try that out. I've thought of some louvers for the side of my hood, but not on top, would rather not if I don't have too. I actually don't run the rubber hood trim so I do have a little gap where the hood meets the fender, so that might help some. I'd say if you temp is below 200 deg it wouldn't be so much of a timing issue. Could maybe try different temp spark plugs. My temps are about 190 or so on a really hot day, I'm usually around 180 I'd say. I see you have lots of aluminum and chrome stuff in your bay, all of which is just soaking in heat. I'd say the biggest key is keeping the fuel cool first, aside from timing to your cam specs. oh lastly, I think they make heat shields that go under your air cleaner, that way all that hot air isn't going right back into your cleaner. Plus gas today is just filled with ethanol, I'd run the better stuff because your compression might be on the higher side. one last thing I'm doing this summer is wrapping my headers, for sure.

yeah pretty much. the spacer I used is phenolic, its like a composite material. that one looks like plastic, but still better than aluminum. Mine is open spread, which I have heard the four bore ones like this are pretty good to, give the fuel a more direct path, since its up a bit higher it has a chance to get sprayed around a little I guess. Either way, I can guarantee those two things will help. I've got my fuel insulated from pump all the way to carb. Oh and my visors are kinda like yours, they just don't seem right do they? I haven't really played with them too much, I just shuv them into the roof.

Time well spent tuning your distributor to the specs of your cam should show great improvements to both starting and performance, especially your vacuum can, and total advance.
A lot of problems are blamed on the carb but are masked by the distributor and timing

had to rebuild the motor again. had a cracked head from my craigslist special and looks like when I reared that car it hit my crank pulley and wiped out my crank bearings. Descided to run without the hood for a while and cover the bolt holes with allen bolts. took the moons off the rims and installed spider caps.
