Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
gotten lots done, just havin issues getting pictures to upload. anyways, to the current issue at hand. ive relocated my motor dropping it a bit and pushing back a few inches, however in doing so has landed my oil pan as the lowest hanging piece which doesnt have my super excited. looking at either slicing a bit out of my current pan or going with one of these....http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...4617/overview/
ive got the rear notches welded in, a new tubular rad crossmember, trailing arm crossmember welded in, new motor mounts in the works to work with my dropmember, just waiting for my wheels and tires to get delivered and ill have a rolly polly front end. anyways, ill get some pics up in the next cpl days to show some progress. |

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
Didnt like how the new mounts turned out, i like the engine back but after a better look its not worth the extra work. So itll sit on the regular pb mounts the dropmember came with. More work and pics to come!

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
Working on the rear suspension. Jus cut some steel to the installed length of coilovers. Jus mocked up, tape n tack welds. Needing to think more 'budget minded' so cheaper routes will be taken from now on haha.

For s's and g's. far from final assembly but these look better on the truck then in the bulky boxes.

wowza, been a while. well, settled a contract, retro pay on its way. wedding is now 100% funded! time for some garage time, in the next month.....
- finish welding suspension pieces (panhard bar, anti-roll bar, rear crossmember/fuel cell mounts) - blast and prime frame - order... - coilovers, axles, nod. centre, carrier, yoke, wheels, tires. should have a rolling chassis by the fall. i know i know, pics or gtfo.... stay (patiently) tuned!! |

Nothing wrong with trading a case of beer for a parts truck.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
man its been a while, time for updates glorious updates. well the truck is fully suspended, some things here and there to finish. I have to weld some cover pieces for the openings in the tubes. I had the panhard bar bent so it would sit where i wanted it then welded a piece of 1" steel and drilled/tapped it to accept the bolt from the rod end. next ill be assembling the rear diff, then hopefully wheels and tires will be on order after next pay day. then its officially a roller!
anyways, till next time. nooner out. |

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
front brakes assembled. the passenger side is being a *****. the bottom bolt hole for mounting the caliper is off, seems the angle the threads are at in the current hole is causing misalignment. ill be contacting cpp and wilwood for their thoughts. right now im thinkin redrill it and helicoil. well see.

Nice progress on your chassis. What's going on with your rotor/caliper?

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
the spindle was crap. the mounting holes were improperly drilled/threaded the mounting bolt for the caliper wouldnt line up. i took it to my machinist and he was gonna fix it, but when he started drilling in the casting was falling away like sand. ended up salvaging it but ive got new spindles now, so all is well. ill keep the shotty ones for another project.
new news.........chassis is painted, por15 it looks pretty decent. sprayed it and it didnt end up as glossy as ive seen. ive got to stop and grab some new nuts so i can reassemble everything and pick up some wheels n tires to get it rolling. well see what santa brings this year and ill update with pics soon. merry christmas! |
