Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

just read thru your build, sweet sub you have
don't be afraid to tear into your instrument cluster, i swapped an amp gauge into a volt gauge into my 58 cluster

hammered flat and re-drilled the old face to fit the new gauge
a little jb weld to glue the old needle on the volt gauge and i think it came out alright

we never took any pics.it fit perfect between the frame rails.no straps.we drilled the pinch weld flange on the tank and it bolted right to the frame rails.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

Looks like that's a solid little start.

As for the construction work - I'd say stay with the scott's stuff - you already know how to work with it & already confirm its quality. Why mess with a good thing??

Bags - YES. Rear - 4 link. SBC for power or ... LS engine would be interesting.

Good luck & I'll be watching the progress.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

your burb came out awesome.i dig the center caps on your wheels.would like to see some pics of your engine and interior.what kind of air management system did you put in there.i think a LS motor would be cool in your 40.i hear msd make a good priced wiring kit and tci make a nice transmission controller.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

So i got home the other night from a local cruise and parked in the shop and as i was walking away it sounded like a gun shot from inside the shop.i run in there to find that one of my bags had blown the bottom out.i only had about 70 pounds on the gauge.its a slam 6 bag.any one else have this happen.

I have a pair of these but I am a long ways off from mine being on the road. Is there anything to look for before one of these failing?

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

Damn skippy on that. When I had my CCab dually I was always wondering if this could happen. I gues like any parts & such you'll get a fault every once in a while. You were very lucky it happened back at your place. That would have really sucked a few hundred miles from home.

Hopefully that won't happen again. I'd be inspecting and/or replacing the balance of those with a diff. mnfctr.
