Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
Lol yeah the right cab corner was cut out of the cab for a repair on another truck I think. That was before I got it. When I got it the cab corner was already missing. Besides, that cab isn't really for sale. I need to cut some sections out of it for the crewcab. I want to turn the crewcab ca into an a/c cab the right way by cutting the a/c part out of the other cab and welding it into the crewcab. I also put a little dent in the cowl section of the crewcab and I need to replace it also with a piece out of that spare cab. That spare cab doesn't have a title either.

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
Well a little update on the truck. My neighbor is like the best neighbor in the world. He's like a brother to me. I've been out of town every weekend for the past couple of months trying to unload my mother in laws condo so we can close the estate. While we were gone last weekend he came and got my truck and started swapping the tranny in it. He took the pan off and there were 1/2" chunks in there. Ouch. So he started on it last weekend and now that things are slowing down for me I'm gonna help him finish it up soon. And I know how y'all like pics so here's some pics of it on the lift.

Well the snowball got me again. Figured since the truck was on the lift I might as well. Lol. I have to go get upper and lower ball joints and outer tie rods today so maybe I can finish it up soon lol. I'll let the pics do the talking.

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
well, I won't be putting one piece windows in the truck...at least not right now...I called them to cancel my order...I ordered them February 2nd and they were scheduled to ship out tomorrow, but last Wednesday when I called they were scheduled to ship out Thursday of last week...so I canceled...

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
also, I have pretty much decided I want to put a duramax/allison combo in this truck and make it a kinda sleeper...
if anyone knows any threads that detail putting a duramax in a squarebody please show me where...I have seen lonnie performance's thread on here, but it's the only one I've been able to find online... |

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
Leave the 6.2, stop thinking about swapping, it puts you back in the box. The 6.2 means you are thinking OUTSIDE the box. Stay outside of the box.
Here you are sir... http://duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3557 http://www.thedieselpage.com/feature...Conversion.htm Also talk to these guys - http://www.avalancheengineering.com/index.html

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
6.2 and sleeper can't go in the same sentence. It's getting a duramax. When you own the truck you can decide what kinda mota goes in it

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
It can easily go into the same truck.
http://www.youtube.com/user/awesomechevyman Plus there are plenty of 250-400hp crate engines and kits...

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
sorry Bradley, but it's not gonna happen...14s, 13s, 12s, 11s, even 10s in the 1/4 are too slow...I plan on running 9s in the truck and having it streetable enough to goto cruise ins...I won't be street racing the truck because I don't believe in endangering other peoples lives when there's a track half hour down the road...

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
Dropped the control arms, upper and lower moog ball joints, moog control arm bushings, and the rotors to get turned off at the machine shop this morning. They said they should have the bushings and ball joints pressed into the control arms and have the rotors turned by this afternoon. So maybe I can get the old girl on the ground tonight. We'll see

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
it won't be bagged, but that's a good looking truck right there...
also, I went to the machine shop today and my buddy had everything done except one of the lower control arms...so I'll pick up the other lower arm tomorrow at lunch and hopefully work on it some when I get home tomorrow...the plan is to have it on the ground driving around by the end of the weekend...I can't wait to start driving her again...I know I got that new big ole truck and it's nice and all, but I miss driving my ole diesel... btw, RJ, you wanna come over Saturday and help button up the tranny swap...also, we'll be in columbia saturday...gotta take the Audi to the dealership for them replace one of the dash vents...shouldn't be that long...figured maybe we could get together and get some lunch or something before I goto the dealership...I have an appt with Audi at 2 on saturday... |

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
definitely grab some lunch...if for some reason I get the little diesel running before the appt at Audi, I might send my wife to the dealership and I'll take the little diesel for a ride out your way...that's if I get it done before 2 on sat which is doubtful

Re: Streetrod Farm Truck build..."the Diesel"
lol...I worked late tonight on my big truck...got in the truck to goto work this morning and when I put the truck in drive and moved water came pouring out of the overhead console...evidently there was a leak and it had leaked into the console...so today after work, I took the marker lights off the roof and sealed up all the factory holes in the roof for them with silicone...while the lights were off, I took the chance to strip the crap tinting stuff the previous owner put on them to black out the lights...when they lit up they looked like a faded red...so now they are all sealed up tight and they look like factory amber again...
I did pick up the last pieces for the suspension from the machine shop today and tomorrow night hopefully I can get to work on the little diesel...hopefully...I'm dying to drive the ole girl again... |
