Nice work on the Durango paint. Sorry to hear the engine puked. I have heard of a few dodges doing that. I guess it's pretty common .

Yeah, Ive been doing a little research today and I personally think the worst thing Mopar ever did was discontinue the 318 for a piece of junk like that 4.7 Liter. Ive been trying to make the kids understand that they are running strait into life lessons right now, they are not liking it much. Its tough when your out of money and things like this happen. I guess thats what Moms and Dads are for...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Looks like we may have avoided a major catastrophy with the Durango. Looks like the Sending Unit on the Mechanical Guage is bad and its reading 75PSI Oil Pressure with the remote mechanical guage. Soon the kids will be on the road to Arizona....

Well, that's great news! I have had that failure before too, on a 5.7 Chevy. Literally scared the crap out of me. It had a crack right at the top in the bakelite. It had near zero oil pressure. When you revved it up it would come up to like 5psi. But I never heard a knock. Zero oil pressure+knock =new motor

Back to the truck now

I took today off for a breather from the marathon paint job so tomorrow its back to getting the 67 on the road. Got some big things coming up like installing the front and rear windows and putting on the door seals, Getting a Steering Wheel (Grant Banjo), Hooking up the exhaust system to the headers, Finishing up the wiring, Tail lites backup lites, need to color sand and buff the entire truck. Still a lot to do.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Got a Different Differential for the truck. I got rid of my 4.10/1 and replaced it with a 3.07/1 gear. Now my teeth wont vibrate out of my head at 70 on the freeway. I am looking forward to getting this thing up and running in the next couple of weeks. I plan on having it running and driving before April. I still have a lot of things to do but they are a lot of little things. Mostly Cosmetics. I am probably going to spend most of this weekend color sanding and buffing and that is definitly not my most favorite thing to do. I have been working on my 67 GTO and that has been slowing me down a bit but I cant seem to stay away from it. I guess I should finish this project first then move on.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Finished the wiring in the Engine Compartment today along with the tail lite wiring. I also insulated the Drivers door with sound proofing material. Here is a couple of pictures of where the truck sets right now. I took the differential to a friend today who is changing the axle bearings along with the seals and the front seal on the diff. After looking closely at the yoke on the front of the differential I found that the surface that the U Joint sets in was badly distorted so im having him put a new yoke on the front of the Diff. Here is a couple of pics of the truck, I also modified the original Accelorator Linkage to fit today also.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Been a crazy week... It started on Sunday when my Wife and I went to look, you notice I said look at SUV's. It started out at the Lexus Dealer and from there we went to the Acura Dealer. She test drove a 2012 MDX and that was all it took to start the ball rolling to purchasing it. We traded in her 2007 Acura TL Type S and my 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4X4 Club Cab Pickup for it. I miss my truck... So on the way home I got a phone call and it was a guy asking me if my 1996 Honda XR650L Motorcycle was still for sale. He met us at the house and bought my Motorcycle immediatly. When it left the house I was out of vehicles and was a foot. So I jumped on Craigslist amoungst the other loonies and went to looking for some immediate transportation. I found a 1998 Dodge Dakota Ext cab V6 with 151K miles on it. Surprizingly its in really good shape. The clear coat on it has some issues but for me that is really minor. I have nick named it the Garden Truck as I plan on throwing things at it because its just a backup to my Soon to be on the Road 67 Short Fleet Pickup. But as with everything else as far as cars go I will probably make this thing run like new and look like new and then I will be afraid to throw things at it. Guess I better Rhino Line it all the way over the bed Rails. I will post some pictures of it later today. Thats my week so far and its only Thursday. I hope I cant get into much more trouble this week with only a couple of more days to go...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Well, today I started the dreaded color sand and buff out process. I did the hood today while the glass guy came and installed my front windshield and the back glass. I need to get the doors able to latch because Wednesday of next week it goes to the Exhaust guy and then I am going to lite a fire in this thing. I hope by next week I will have it started and broke in before the weekend. I will try to video the event and post it. I am going to try to have the entire truck Color Sanded and Buffed out before the end of the weekend. Then it will be a marathon of putting it together. Installing all the molding and the badging along the endless list of last minute stuff that needs to get done... Here are a few pictures of the hood.

Nice build, your paint and body skill is excellent! I don't know how I didn't find this build sooner.

Thanks 67rustbuket,
I wish my bodywork skills were excellent. I seem to be finding more and more things on this truck thats making me crazy from a bodywork standpoint. I have just about come to the conclusion that I am going to wrap the entire truck except the Drivers side bed and start that over just like I was beginning. Its really bad across the top of the bed where I filled the holes that was in the bed from the hooks that were on it when I started. I must have been drinking when I long boarded it.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

I guess I need to remember that this is going to be my Daily Drive and not a show truck... I think im my own worst enemy when it comes to bodywork.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Did the Color Sand and Buff this weekend and installed the front bumper, Steering wheel, Adjusted the Drivers Side door, Altered the Outer Brackets for the Front Bumper, Still need to Color sand and buff the tailgate and install all the Trim on it then install it. I am going to hook up the battery today and start doing system tests on it. Hopefully I dont see any smoke... Here are a few pics after the fun fest this weekend...

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Well, I got it running and broke in this weekend. Here is a video of it running. Im still waiting for the video of the brake in process to come back. I fine tuned it a bit this morning so its running better and I got all the lights working along with the Vintage air. So here it is.

Thanks for the Compliments... I picked up the Hippo Liner today (Tintable Bed Liner) that I am going to spray in tomorrow. Im going to try and put the moldings on the other side today and prep the bed for spraying the liner. Its still the neverending list...
