Thanks 72SWB ! Mine was pitted, and peeling. I was going to just paint it. I didn't have anything to loose so I figured I'd give leafing a shot.

Re: 68' Chevy c10

Well I've been back on the body work. the roof panel, outer driver side door, and underside of hood is all thats left. I was going to paint interior then finish outside wor, but decided to finish all body work first.

I'm currently looking for ideas for a shifter handle, but everything I find just isn't what I want. So I think I'll make one. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: 68' Chevy c10

I will be using the factory stick, and after looking at old door knobs, early fire truck parts to use for a the handle/knob. I have a few ideas for a handle now. I'll probably make a couple and use the favorite. Not locked into anything yet.

Re: 68' Chevy c10

You can make something that will slide over the original stick then if you don't like it later you will still have the stock one or get another one out or the bone yard to play with. I stuck with the granny 4 speed to I like the Rat Fink look of the big stick. Here are a couple of Ideas.

Thanks for the ideas FrankiD, I like the tall shifter too. So I'll use the factory one I have, but the brass knuckle idea is cool.

Thanks jlsanborn ! No progress yet on the cluster. only worked on the bowtie and cluster until my neck was back to normal.(pulled a muscle or something)
the cluster face will get the same treatment as the bowtie minus the red.

not sure if I want to use original mirror mount w/copper leaf and trans black, or use the 65' chevelle type.

I like the OG mirror mount way better even if you left it as is.

Nice! How did you get the red paint to lay in so smooth in the bowtie? Was the red the last step? That is awesome looking!

Thanks man, I'm going to use the OG, but paint it satin black. It doesn't show in the pic , but it's pretty crusty.

Thanks ! I used an airbrush, and the red was the last step before clearcoat.

Thanks Johnathan, nothing more on the cluster yet. still trying to decide what will get the leafing treatment, so when I do the transparent black I only have to mix it once.

Awesome! Love that color too. It's close to what mine was when I got it and Wifey sometimes thinks I should stick with that. We've worked awful hard to get that stuff off tho! For now, I'm still saying Butternut with a white top. I'll be looking for you tomorrow afternoon

Re: 68' Chevy c10

Thanks Man ! Color choice is a tough one. The color I went with is a variation of a GM color called Auburn Nightmist. The original color had fast blue in it, and it made it have a purple hue. I didnt want that,so we took out the blue and no more purple. It's also in the dupont paint registry now. I'll post pics when I get the paint on it.

Re: 68' Chevy c10

AWESOME!
I like the color even more now. Can't wait to see some panels out in the sun. Nice job man! How bad is the overspray in the shop? I've never done any automotive painting, but have sprayed a bunch of machinery. I know how to operate and maintain a gun and figured I'd spray my own. I'm thinking just a single stage. I bought a bunch of lumber and an a$$-lode of plastic to make a "booth" in my shop. How much painting have you done? Again, looks killer!

Thanks jl ! Overspray goes everywhere. I just wait for the clear to be set up enough, then open up the shop and let it air out. I,ve been painting for @ 15 yrs, and mostly painted motorcycles. this is my first complete vehicle. If you can spray machinery, you'll do just fine on your truck.
