Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Dimpled the frame for ps earlier....also working on the trac bar and shock mount install...

Put my battery on the charger and it's already reading 12.5 so I'm not going to charge it....I have it handy if needed but should be good to start up....

Glad to see the trans 'member came and and good thing its not raw...one less thing to paint! Cross your fingers that engine/trans installation goes smoothly!
Sorry you couldn't sleep....thinking of bagging your truck weren't you?
Speaking of the engine/trans install...I sent you a text

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

My guess is from the time he gets there you two will have the truck running and driving in 6 hours or less.
Ohhhh its a time challenge.
You two can play beat the clock.
Of course that is all predicated on the idea that you are both working and one guy isnt sitting around supervising the other guy working

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Who am I kidding...I'll update tonight or is it this morning technically

Have to tighten a few bolts and connect the e-brake and brake lines....also have to swap the lower bolts in the bags....need 4 1/2" and had 5" so they won't tighten all the way of course...

Also going to trim down the rear bumpstop for now....they will be removed completely when I notch it...

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

And things always happen for a reason....remember my steering wheel I was upset at myself for ruining the paint with a hurried clear coat?

I'm upset no more

Aircraft stripper took off all the new paint as well as the red paint that was on there....leaving a fawn wheel there are a couple small cracks....but once I finish stripping the paint and hose it off/clean it up....i'm using this wheel the way it is

Me too . I put them on my first truck but never finished that one because of a layoff. Then had one with bags in the rear for a few months that I had to sell to get the cash to finish my blazer project.

So this will be my first bagged driver....been looking forward to it now since I joined the board.....20k+ posts later and I'm here

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

I will also see how it rides with the bag "hats". Have heard some complaints of not enough air in the bags but from what I've read those guys didn't have 2" blocks (2 1/4 effective with the ece trac bar setup) and they rode with the trucks really low....I don't care to ride super low....just at a 4/6 or 5/7 drop....so I "should" have plenty of air in the bags at ride height....

If not, when I notch it I will remove the hats and drill directly through the frame for the air fittings.

Will get some pictures in a few min....

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

The speed at which you are getting this thing done is just crazy impressive.
You never know you still might have time to get extra things done because if it rains one day before the 13th you can fabricate your notches and then the next morning you can instal them and you will be all set

Thanks. Since this is my planned career I've been putting a ton of time in each day. Most days a minimum of 6 hours....some days as many as 14 hours with interruptions between and some of that time buying parts and of course posting on here

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Thanks, will have a lot more still to do on the truck after the meet. Bed wood, new door window seals, new (nice used) door guts, the c-notch and accuair system,.......

And down the road I really want to do an ls swap.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Need a 1 1/8" socket but I think I will pick one up to have...if you can bring a better 1/2" drive ratchet than the one I have so I can tighten up everything in the rear that would be great.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

I had to buy a Craftsman 3/4" breaker bar and 1-1/8", 1-1/16", 3/4" sockets to remove some of the nuts on the rear end of my truck because I broke three craftsman 1/2" Ratchet Drivers and a 1/2" breaker bar before I realized I needed a 3/4" breaker bar LOL

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Engine and trans are IN!

Despite a few bolts that didn't want to cooperate we got them mounted up. Bmerdoc also helped me button up the steering so now all that needs is the pump and lines ran...(and the wheel )

HUGE thanks to Nick (bmerdoc) for coming by again after work and staying late. Remember guys, he's working on getting his truck ready for our upcoming meet also!

Stil have to tighten the tubular crossmember bolts and install the torque converter to flywheel bolts but a BIG step forward tonight. Hoping I can get everything else buttoned up so Sunday Sunday Sunday we can fire it up!
