Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Oldman3, trust me if I could send some your way I would.
Good morning so far. I blanked out all my stuff this morning. Then rolled and bent it all up. I made the remove able transmission tunnel, splash aprons, and the roll pan. The roll pan will have a removable plate the will fit into the received, so it will be out of site till you remove it to put the hitch in. I will remake the rear bed cross member. I will also make a paneled filler panel for the raised bed floor. Here are some pictures. Shannon Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
My 55 GMC has a roll pan and a hidden hitch, and I put a flip up license plate to hide the receiver. I am sure with your skills it will look much better than what I used.
Keep up the interesting work.

solidaxel, Thank you. That was what I was going to do and then Kens son said about moving the plate box off to the side. So that is what I came up with.

99 to Life, Thank you. Cool on maybe getting another panel. That is the long one I think because of it being a 1 ton. You do not see to many of them.

98layinframe, Thank you. If you have the tools to do it, it really isn't hard to do. Having the tools is the hardest part. Have not seen you on for a while. How is the truck going?

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Nope unfortunately havent done anything to my truck, I bought a little honda civic to use as a daily and been spending my time trying to get it cleaned up and up to my picky standards of road worthy.
made a little progress on buddy dougs truck cut the firewall out and got the cab and bed sitting on the s10 frame. He ordered the cab patch panels, so getting those in and the floor solid is the next order of business. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Finally after hours of messing around with photobucket and the site I have some pictures to post.i started out removing the rear bed crossmember and plug welding some 2 x 3 box in the stake pockets. Then used some angle to bolt to it. There is a piece of tubing that is welded between the two. I also installed my 2 rear bed supports. Then came the roll pan. Ken wanted a hidden hitch but a stock plate mount so I made a plug that hides the hitch. I cut it out then bead rolled some material with a step on it. Then made a frame work for the plug to rest on. It has some rubber on it and hold it to the profile of the roll pan. So it is nice and smooth and you still have a hitch to hall a small trailer. Then made up a panel filler piece for the raised bed floor. So I am moving forward. I am going to make a set of custom running board now. Because the other ones are in sad shape. So it is easier to make new.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Shannon-
Very slick hidden hitch. On my 53 Suburban project that I'm starting soon I would like to do a hidden hitch of some sort but I plan on using the stock bumper. Looking good buddy.. Marc

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
well, you are a much better man then me.... I could not figure out how to post pics (why did they change the site anyway?), so I guess I will not be doing that anymore
question: how will you hold the plug in? How will you grab it to remove it? Can you just reach in under / behind the pan to reach it? thanks, mike |

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
msaintg, Shawn, Ok, Try this.
Set up Photobucket account. Before loading any pictures but after account is set up go to Links to share this photo box. Click on load options Click on 640 x 480 Click save click save again Then you can upload your photos and they should be the right size. It worked for me that way. I had tried it earlier with putting the pictures on and then doing the resizing after they were loaded and it still would not work. So I deleted those pictures and resend after doing the resizing. Then you will go to the picture and select it and then copy it. Then go to the truck site and click on the box and paste it. Then upload. You have to have photobucket and the truck site both open and toggle back and forth. You still can upload 5 pictures. Hope that helps. I do not want to see anyone not post pictures, because I love to see what everyone is doing too. Shannon

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Bubba54, Thank you
youngrodder, Thank you. I hope you start a build thread on it. I can not wait to see you start. 99 to Life, Thank you, Frame for Ken (corvette suspension for his burb), some cab work on a Ad for a fellow board member. A f100 that I am moving the wheel wells forward, centering them in the fender. Along with moving the front suspension and maybe changing to a crown vic setup. So yes, just sitting around. HAHA. Oh I forgot my side windows and a few other thing on the panel. oldman3, Thank you msaintg, The plug has a 2x2 square on it just like a drop. It has a hole in it also. Yes, you reach under the pan or may see about having an rear board hinge up for easier access. Shannon

Bubba54, thank you. No problem on the info. Chris. Thank you. 48 GMC BURB, thank you. Glad you like it. No doubt, I am ready to get back to work. So far having a great vacation in myrtle beach. We were not going to go this year but last minute we decided to go. We usually go at the same time as my bother and sister n law. I had talked to my niece about when they were going and set everything up to stay at the same resort as we always do. It ended that we found them on the highway about a 1 1/2 till myrtle beach. They were so surprised. Although I am going through old car/truck withdrawal. I have not seen anything old driving around. Shannon Posted via Mobile Device
