I am pretty upset about the lens, speaking honestly. it made it from 1941, all the way till last year with driving and sitting in a field, cow kicks and forklifts and rollbacks and dragging it around the yard to ALMOST being installed and *crash*. pretty irresponsible of me, I gotta say.

You could get a fin comb and straighten them out. Or a pair of needle nose pliers. I've straighten my fare share of fins. Lol

we are getting to the late summer rains, I dont know if anyone remembers in my last build but when I had my 4x4 silverado in the back yard for a while last time it sank to the axles and was a real chore to get out. well johnny never came back from his original offer of help and we were about to get drenched so I had to get the truck out of the yard. we had stopped working because of the wasp nest, so I carefully drilled the cab bolts (they were rusted in place, no loosening) and got the cab up in the air but the soft dirt wouldnt let it roll. I thought about having my neighbor help pull but instead I just hooked a chain to the next s10 donor and yanked, it was touch and go but it worked! I got the trailer into the front yard just as it started raining (you can see it on the ground). it was a real gullywasher for a while, man was that good timing

got the little filler pieces put in the tubs, tacked then glued. got the running boards bolted to the fender, they line up perfectly with the cab, the bed, and the frame. all that measuring wasnt a lost cause!

here is the difference between a 41 1/2 ton and a longbed s10 wheelbase. I plan to just slice the running board right there and add the material required.

The seats and the carpet turned out great! I have a 60s era replacement rubber mat to throw down that was laying on the floor, folded up when I dug it out. Carpet still looks better!

thanks outlaw. that oxblood color is my favorite for hot rods, it goes with black trucks, blue trucks, green trucks (whats green and red and goes 80mph? a frog in a blender!), white trucks, red trucks etc. I did cappuccino cream on the 49 and it was dirty before I got it home.


paintman they are 215/75/15 front and 235/75/15 rear. that is another hallmark of my trucks, I stagger that size on every one.

my brother says I do it so you cant rotate the tires. maybe next time I will do 215s all around haha.

bill, I have no plans to lengthen the bed sides, the gap doesnt look abnormally large. On the next one I only have a long bed though so probably will close the gap. you can be sure I have taken the measurements from this one haha.

running boards mounted, super easy, gets easier every time. I used some extra AD running board mounts I had laying around and trimmed them to about 11 1/2 inches in front and 13 1/2 inches in the back.

the front fenders had a little wiggle until we cinched the running boards down, this should be one quiet truck on the road because everything is very taut

the rear fenders were super wiggly, needed a brace I did not have. so I made one. I wanted the outside to be clean so I used some carriage bolts. I planned to bolt them to the bed too, but the drill didnt fit up where the brace went, so I just welded that side to the bed. you can still pull the fender by unbolting the carriage bolt so no foul

I even used a wing nut on the back side so it would be easy to pull off.

Hey Joe! I'm curious to know what brand tires do you have? I think I am leaning towards whitewalls for my truck. The only problem is the measurements are all over the place for each manufacturer. I'm assuming your fronts are about 27" tall and the rears 28"? Are you running the same width wheels front and back? I plan on using 6's up front and 7's on the rear?

I'm concerned about running 215/75/15 up front because of my drop spindles. I'm not so sure that size wouldn't hit the top of the fender when the suspension compresses. I guess i could always go back to the standard spindle.......

I considered a lot of options for gauges, I like reusing the steppers and maybe I will do that on the next one but for this one I went simple.

put it on the ground again this morning. hard to tell in the garage but the stance looks perfect to me. I spend a lot of time on that aspect, I think the three most important things to a good build are stance/wheels and tires/interior.

oops I did miss it, which is to say, I saw it and wanted to get the wheels and tires back on so I could tell you how they fit in the front.

the front are 15x 5 from an impala, the rear are 15x7 from an olds 88. the tires are coker classics from summit.

The front has a lot of room to the brace inside the fender, you could bag it on this size and it would lay out. the rear would be too big to lay all the way out, it would only come down maybe 4-4.5 inches and you might need a larger spacer to get the tire centered in the highest part of the fender.

not much progress unfortunately, I moved the trailer and the next donor out of the way of the garage door and pulled the truck out to sweep up, it gets kind of cluttered in there with so little space. yesterday was the wifes bday, all day. big times a comin though. I had to take the dash back out, I forgot to fix the broken bolt on the cowl vent linkage.

remember when I needed that brake bracket part and it just mysteriously showed up? well I was wiring the headlights and couldnt find the passenger headlight plug. johnny and I looked all over the garage and in this drawer (where I last remembered seeing it) at least 4 times between us. I broke down and bought a new one, went to get my crimpers from the drawer and
