Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Mrs. Bee has mentioned the interest in a 20ga clay gun last few years.. y'all know what a nut I am for my birth year '71 so the hunt was on for a birth year gun for my better half.. had some prospects but nothing jumped out at me..

friend of mine at work showed me a low res online picture of this.. he said hey, may not be an '81 but sure would be nice if I don't find what I was looking for.. so what the heck, I called the shop and just about fell out of my chair when he said 5C3 model and PZ serial!

brought it home couple weeks ago to hide 'til her birthday in may.. thankfully I don't think she pays any attention to my internet ramblings so secret should be safe with us.. hopefully she'll be as excited as I am LoL

little bit of research I've done so far, these were hand engraved (1978-1984) and held in high regard.. 20ga and skeet models both possibly a little less common too.. I called Browning right after I purchased it and the historian expedited a letter addressed to her.. my name on the envelope of course and nothing out of the ordinary for me to get mail from gun companies

1981 Browning Citori Skeet Grade 5 20ga

That is beautiful. Congrats on finding something like that for her that checks all the boxes.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Sort of random pic from work today. Around 7:30AM this guy and a couple of buddies parked suspiciously close to another one of our workers 3/4 ton 4x4 Ford. They hopped out and quickly lopped off his catalytic converter, tossed it in the back of their truck and sped off.

Couple of our employees saw most of it but were unsure of what was happening. Non car guys. One fella got a good pic of the thief's truck. Cops came and even though there was a picture and witnesses they said they couldn't do anything about it. Something about the crime was under X amount of dollars. This world is really screwed up these days.

Well here is the picture, I doubt they are heading out of state on a crime spree (heh), watch out for these low lifes if you are local-ish

That is a crime in itself. And how much does it have to be for them to go after the bad guys? Cat replacement ain't cheap.

I have "alert" cameras on my truck and they would probably still get away with the cat before I could even get out there. The punks are stealing them in braod daylight around here. Walmart parking lots, etc.

I read that a car dealership had damned near all of the cats stolen from cars on the lot overnight, not long ago.

just don't understand these people that go buy a $80 000 boat and can't even be bothered to use a $5 safety chain on it.
couple yrs ago came across a boat in the middle of the road, 50 ft around the corner was the truck and trailer that the boat came from...obviously no safeties on it.
tourist season starting around here. third rv wipeout in the last month...

judging by the position of the hitch after a jackknife and rollover, I'd say safety chains saved it from runaway..

more likely hitch coupling failure like underrated ball (see made in china) unlubricated ball (see heat fatigue), untorqued locknut, improvised hitch pin, improvised coupler safety pin or none, or general lack of common sense..

Man, that sure is good to know that the owner of that vehicle that had it's catalytic convertor stolen (which mean straight pipe till you spend money on a new exhaust system) wasn't violated in any illegal manner and everything is ok because the dollar value of loss is under xxx dollars. I think they should pay a fine for leaving their vehicle in a parking lot where thieves can steal while the vehicle owner is at work earning a paycheck

I don't think that any catalytic converter replacement cost is less than a felony charge. Must be bigger fish to fry, I guess?

safety chains on the boat.
my sidewinder had 2, one bolted to the winch mast for the front boat hook, and one on the transom tie down , as well as the transom tie downs.
a safety chain at each end of the boat will stop it from leaving the trailer, even if your tie downs break, instead of becoming airborne...a missle...a traffic pylon...cargo in the back of your truck....
where i live, having at least one boat safety chain is mandatory

Thanks for the info and the picture. I'll keep an eye out, that truck will be easy to remember. Tell your work buddy that I'll get him a red Dakota tailgate that he can sell on Craigslist if I see the truck. Stupid clowns should be driving a tan Camry. That's a pretty obvious truck.

* No tan Camrys' feelings were hurt in the making of this post. They are nice-driving cars, there are just a lot of them. Hence the example.

Believe it or not, nobody got hurt. Just another idiot going too fast and not paying attention to the vehicle (semi truck hauling a shipping container in this case) in front of him. When it came to an abrupt halt so did his truck…the boat however kept going. If it were a Prius instead of the shipping container the outcome would probably have been a whole lot worse.

That person, like most I see, wasn't driving like they were towing. It's a big problem I see all the time. There is a way to drive while towing and it isn't taking what is hitched to your ball, and the additional weight that comes with it, for granted. You certainly do not hook up and forget about it. It's bad enough that people drive like they don't expect to have to stop. Even worse when they do that while towing. This driver was obviously one who takes towing for granted

Dropped off my keg gas tank for the 68 to have the bulkheads welded on for the fittings . I don’t have a tig and the mig doesn’t look as clean on the welds. But he had out his rat rod that’s almost done . Completely custom chassis built in house with a 1500 Hp diesel with 2000 ft pounds of torque. He’s trying to get it done for the Carlisle truck show .

Wasn’t enough money . A new cat most likely needs to be an OEM one like NY makes you use and with the labor is easy 2k . So grand larceny isnt a crime to Persue ? That’s BS

$2k to weld on a converter? What am I missing? And some of those converters are grand theft as a standalone crime.
