I installed the floor. Couldn’t match the original in the rest of the house 1inch wide random length oak was considered #2 hardwood flooring in 1954 now it’s more expensive . Part of the room used to be the garage . She rents the house from me she grew up in it .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Oooohhh, that looks ten-DER! I have a smoker like that. Wait till you do a turkey! Mmmmm....

I drove 300 miles up and back to grandma's house. actually I rode while my son drove. It was over the river and through the woods with a handful of mountains in between. I'm just glad we made it up and back with no issues on the road. I had brought along "in case we get stranded" gear

On Christmas eve I installed a mini tiffany style pendant light in my downstairs bath. I bought it last winter but didn't get it installed before spring and it went to a back burner... the forgotten about. Looked at it and said, "There's something I can do when it's 5* outside!". One more step for the bathroom. Now to jump into the shower tile work!

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Lovely newer car quality . Had this 04 Envoy since new wasn’t used in winter till 4 years ago has 112k miles on it . Frame is going I’ve had to patch the other side like this and plate where the transfer case crossmember bolts to the frame . There is no reason the frame should do this when all the thin stamp steel attachments are still on good shape . Frame is thicker but seems to be made from cheaper steel . My Tacoma did this but Toyota replaced the frame . I put the new control arm on just because it was apart

I’ll be looking for a new car this spring and I highly doubt it will be a domestic vehicle .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I am renovating a 1971 house in the NC mountains and am updating/improving some of its less appealing original equipment (baths, kitchens, flooring, etc.) It came with builder-grade flat doors and flimsy folding doors that I hated so I replaced all of them with solid pine 6 panel doors. This is the first one to get finished.

I used Miniwax Puritan Pine stain just to give it some light color and then topped it with 3 coats of Minwax satin varnish. These are off-the-shelf Kimberly Bay doors from Home Depot and I believe they are made of Brazilian radiata pine. It takes a nice color, isn't blotchy when stained (I used Minwax pre-stain to lessen that undesirable outcome), and looks similar to heart pine at about 1/3 the cost. Only 20 more to go!

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Looks good! I remember having that kind of energy. I burned it all out, I guess.

As for me, the handle broke off the microwave, so my wife started making noises about a new one. No way I'm tossing out an operational appliance because a handle broke. I took a section of closet clothes pole and made a handle.

ETA- this was the first wood working project with my new table saw.

Two days ago, I fell and got a laceration in the back of my head. I hit in on a concrete curb. A couple of hours later and 7 staples, I was back home.

Ouch! That doesn't sound like fun. I'm sure the doctor told you this but pay attention to any headaches, vision problems or dizzyness and have it checked out. Concussion is a real thing....

First of all. I hope that you are doing well.

Second, 7 staples. I had 7 stitches in my noggin when I had a rock fall on my head. The worst part is they shave a big spot on your head. It's not an attractive look. Buy a hat.

Leon is right that you need to watch for concussion or some weird side effects. I had a massive bruise on my left arm and couldn't get it to extend for about a year. Nothing ever hit my arm.

Same with my latest fiasco with bouncing my head off a tile floor. I didn't even break the skin but it paralyzed me. My arms still worked but that was it. And it HURT!
They say "Time heals all wounds' I guess that's true. It just takes a lot of time.

One more thing. You may hallucinate. I had all kinds of stuff floating in my head that never happened. But I was all doped up in the hospital. They've got some good stuff there.

Hope your felling better . But usually two to three days after a tumble I feel worse . All the muscles start to cramp up

Oh, man that looks good! I saw some at CostCo a couple weeks ago, don't remember the price. I'll check again. I think that I was still dazed by the $16.99/Lb. of lamb ribs. No, I didn't buy them- 1/3 bone, 1/3 fat, 1/3 meat makes those thing stupid expensive to feed on.

I hope you are healing up well. Good thing it was only the laceration. This is a thing we both have in common. I also fell a couple weeks ago and cut the back of my head. mine was a fall off a roof, but not far. It was a metal roof I installed and had been able to walk on ok, but only a little before this happened. We had even talked about the special shoes made for this in a thread a couple days prior. I started walking up and my feet slipped out, started sliding, knew it was only about 6' to the ground with a walk board even closer. My feet glanced off the walk board and hit the ground. I would have been fine if I had room to collapse and roll, but the house foundation was so close I hit my head on the brick wall. It could have been a lot worse and I feel very lucky. Could have broken my neck. No concussion symptoms at all.

great fix!

I am designing parts for hydroformed frames like right now and let me just say, I know why people dont design parts for hydroformed frames. insanely strong for how thin they are. they need more wax coating for sure.
