Re: 1969 Short Wide

Definitely liking those better than the rally rims! Did you have to use spacers on the rear? Is yours the narrow early rear or a wider 71-72 axle?

Not sure about the 295? There's what seems to just be enough clearance on the outside.

Thanks I'm digging the new look myself. I think it's a little more sporty...
The rear axle is 73 up squarebody 12 bolt. Not the stock 70 12 bolt

Re: 1969 Short Wide

I've been seeing your IG pics, but reading the details on here makes it that much better. Looks great Mike!

By the way, I don't know if the 73 up axles are wider than the 71-72, but I have 295's on my 20x10 with 5.5" backspacing on my factory 71 rear axle housing and it clears just fine. It's about as much as I can comfortably do before I get nervous about rubbing either inside or outside. My pan-hard bar had to be adjusted to make sure it was all centered too, but I have about 1/2" clearance all around.

I didn’t did measure mine center to center after I lowered it. It’s still spot on

The 71-72 5-lug housings are the same width as 73-87's.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Thanks Boynton. It's an 89 model. It's pretty much stock with a 5.7 TBI engine.
It's fun to drive too.
