Holy cow Batman, scavenger pipes?! I haven't seen those since the 60's. They look great! I always thought the mid-50's Nash hood ornament was really cool, but they cost about $400 so I won't be getting one anytime soon. It's somewhat similar to yours.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got the bed disassembled and off late yesterday. More frame prep today. This would go a lot quicker if I was 30 or 40 years younger. It takes me 5 minutes just to get up off the floor. But I love my hobbie.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I find a generous supply of cheapy interlocking sponge rubber floor pads from Costco very helpful in keeping my old busted self functioning in the garage. And stacking 2 or 3 together is very helpful in knee protection when getting up off the concrete.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Yeah, those sound great. Right now I have a couple of old carpet pieces to pad the floor of the garage and they work pretty well. I'm just already old and creaky from life in general but anything is a help. I've also got a couple of old computer chairs with rollers that I do a lot of scooting around on when I can keep the work at sit down level. It just sucks getting old. LOL....

MBEXHAUST-
That looks REALLY cool (and I like all the green stuff behind the truck too - it's 103+, dry and mostly brown here right now)

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well..
My '63 GMC was pretty much stock and in good shape when I got her, but among some of the problems that it did have, the radio slot had been hacked up a little.
I have a factory radio and wanted to get the dash taken care of so I could install it, so I got after it.
It will be a while before I can paint the truck, so after the repairs, I threw some Rustoleum on it so I could get it back together.
Overall, it turned out well.....but as usual, the 4 hour jobs pretty much take two days.

That turned out great. Most would never suspect it had been repaired.

I replaced all my lock cylinders with a set keyed alike from Classic Parts, now I need only carry one key and my glove compartment locks to boot, nice!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Clyde...
Someone had over-sized the square in height by 1/2" overall and drilled another set of tuner knob holes inboard of the oe's....
I made a plate with the correct dimension square and long enough to cover the new holes....short enough to miss the original ones.
I placed the plate inside the dash..(from the back) and welded it in place.
I patched it "overlap" style and leveled off my welds with a die-grinder leaving a bit of bondo work to do...but over-all turned out great.
The only actual "sculpting" that I had to do was below the repair where the contour changes. The rest was very close.
Maybe I should have done a "flush" graft, but I'm probably not that skilled.

Anyway....thanks for the props.

Thanks! I have the stock wheels that have been blasted and painted black base/clear, I was going to run them with a thin white wall but everyone seems to like the vette rallys with the spinner caps. p.s. my money tree isn't growing either!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I took my truck down to Sango, TN with my daughter riding shotgun. We hit a rough patch on a bridge and the rearend hopped around a bit. My daughter looks at me from the passenger seat and says: "Slow down, Dad... You know you don't have AIRBAGS!!!" I laughed the rest of the way home.
