Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I don't know if this qualifies as a CL find or more of a CL avoid? If I recall a board member(User name Pusifier?)looked at this truck in person and found it was a cut frame? No SPID either.

That is correct. Frame has been cut SPID is missing and there is rust present. I have been flagging prohibited on craigslist for the last year and he just keeps posting. Wouldn’t make me as mad if he wasn’t trying to pass it off as something it was not. It’s not a bad looking truck, but they did a piss poor job cutting the frame and re-welding it. I don’t know who posted this beware listing but kudos.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

FWIW, I was in comms with the seller also - he shared the SPID and engine pic and then nothing else except written info. He told me typical cab corner rust and a little where the rocker/sill meets the floor. Apparently the rocker and sill were still firmly attached to each other, just not on the truck.. Thank you very much for the pics! Personally, the sunroof killed it for me when I finally noticed it. At least he chopped a sunroof sized hole in the parchment headliner to accommodate it

I have to agree, gotta really want this truck to be willing to make it through the headache it will be. The paint combo IS stunning, especially with a parchment interior, but it is way rough overall. Price is probably fair though, he's not asking much.

The rockers are gone, floor is soft, cab supports are rotted and filled with foam. Doors have double speaker holes hacked in. both front fenders are bad. I suspect the box is not original to the truck. It is solid and straight.

That truck looks like it has lived a hard life. What a bummer it was probably pretty sweet when new.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

That is sure a low option Super that has led a rough life.

The first deluxe paint truck I ever saw in 1971 was a black and white 71 GMC Sierra. That thing was beautiful.

If the frame was in good shape I’d buy it and do a body swap.

Again, too far away

Pretty good deal on 4 sandblasted and painted 9.75 x16.5 8 luggers with good 33" tires $500
EDIT: note that it looks like they only have inny nubs, not outys that would hold a cap...

Not what I would want. Never seen an antenna mounted to the side of a cab before.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

Well I bought my latest truck off Craigslist just about three weeks ago. She is rough but the motor is original and sounded good. Since then I have had a tune -up done, removed the old Q-jet and installed one of the brand new AVS2 Edelbrock carbs, replaced the front brakes and drums and I have a hand full of other parts just waiting to be installed. I hope that by the end of next week I will be driving it everyday to work.
