Abandoned, neglected square body trucks rotting away...

As an ex Farm boy I learned long ago to love private junk yards ~ often the vehicles are so used up they have zero to offer but I've also bought some fantastic old vehicles and hard to find parts out of them too .

1976 C-30, the story goes that my Landlord bought this from a defunct company in the early 2000s. I have known about this one since at least 2006. According to him, it has a newer 350 Crate engine in it but it was seized. My dad who actually did some work on this truck said it was BS.

It's been sitting in the same spot at my Landlords dump since 2006. But surprisingly it's not all in bad shape body wise but the motor is still in there seized up.

Not the greatest image, but here's another C-30 around the same year I would assume.





Last tagged in 2005 and was brought in along with several other stuff that rots out there.

Here's the one I bought, a 1973 C-20. I believe it was sitting out there since at least 2008. It was an ex-tree service truck that was driven in there and left to sit.







This one seemed like it had a solid body but stripped for parts though.

This one has been out there since at least 2017 I believe. I'll post more photos of some of the other squares this Weekend which includes one I bought as well.

This one appears to be worthy of saving as well - especially the natural patina.

The most important thing is RUST ~ it never sleeps and these trucks are rust prone, even here in Los Angeles .

The running gear is all dirt cheap, a stuck engine can be freed up or replaced, God know the small block 350CID engine is every where .

Find a good basic body & frame then you can buy the running gear still attached to some paper thin rust bucket and get all the fiddly factory hardware with it for $500 .

Yes, I realize not everyone wants to build their own rig but that's how I approached it when I was young enough to build them .

Sadly I don't think I did. When I took these pictures the whole area was like a swamp. But I will see if I could take another picture of it soon.

Originally was a stick but converted into an Automatic. But sadly, like a punch in the gut, my landlord didn't have the title for it and the way he talked about this truck, it seemed whoever owned it last wasn't exactly a friendly character.

I went out there today with my dad to get the VIN Number off my truck so my Landlord can find the title so I decided to look at this C-30 Box truck a bit closer.







I'm very likely going to buy the 76 C-30 Above that has the seized engine and could very well go for this box truck as well as a possible parts truck.

Here's a couple of Blazers he had out there as well and me and dad thought about getting one of them but we looked at them and both have a number of issues.





I believe this one is either an 87-88 GMC Jimmy, That sadly got nailed in the left front which bent the left front frame of the truck as well.

This one is a 2WD, with a BB in it.





Sadly this one was pretty rough, this one wasn't out there for very long and it seemed whoever owned this one before my Landlord left it out in a field to suffer to the elements.

Not sure if these are allowed in this thread but here's a couple of C60s. That is sitting at my Landlord's dump.





The Second one has been out there since at least 2008/9 I believe. I really need to get better photos of it but it's in excellent shape. I believe it has a 292 Straight Six in it the last time I looked under the hood.

The Top one has been there since at least 2014. I took a peek inside the cab and it looked excellent as well.

Here's another one or what's left of it. Not the greatest picture but it seems the Cab and Propane tank was removed sometime between 2012-2015.
