Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Saturday Night Picture Time
I scavenged jute padding from some of my 2002 part out trucks and today I was gluing it down to the floor. I also crammed the rear window panel surrounds full. The rear carpet set seems to fit fine. Since I had to order a Burb carpet kit, I will use the rearmost suburban carpets to make a rear panel carpet cover (below the glass), but between the carpet and jute padding I am installing some plywood to mount my air ride box and wires out of the way and off the floor. Man this thing ought to be quiet!!!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
And now its looking nicer!
The rear panel got Dynamat, then jute padding, then 3/4 plywood, and then carpet. I made some clamps to attach the plywood to the old gas tank mounts. With the plywood there I can mount my air ride stuff out of reach. I hope I don't need to mess with it.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Looks like I ended up with plenty of room in the back seat. This is with the front seat pushed all the way back, which won't be how I need it to drive.
I hired a boy model to test out the legroom.

Your truck is looking really good. Are there any other reasons that you added the plywood other than mounting the Air ride stuff? Any advantages having it back there?

Boy Meets Truck
For sure a boy... Let me know if you need a man model.
PS - Thanks for keeping the southern truck theme going shirtless. Please leave the rebel flags and lower back tats off. |

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
It also makes for a really flat smooth looking surface. I hot glued the carpet to it which helps it hang smooth and tight.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
I'm not sure what's up with ACC. I work in the same town they are located in (Anniston, Alabama) and visited them on numerous occassions and they are not very helpful. You'll probably have better luck getting help from the distributor you got the carpet from if you are trying to get it swapped.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Very nice build, I just looked at the whole thing in one sitting, very informative.
Since you are using the stock rear seat and I saw you mount the hooks to your back wall and saw that you carpeted the rear and mounted some of you air ride back there .. I wanted to see if you knew about the mod to not only make your rear seat flip up but also fold down. All you have to do is take a little off the hook on the seat. The seat works exactly like it did stock when down, it does not flip forward. To flip it forward you lift the bottom slightly and then the back of the seat will fold down. Keep up the good work! |

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
ACC was no help. They said I had to call the place I bought it from. I did and they want to measure one at their shop and compare to mine tomorrow.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Today I got my headliner material samples and we are going with dark charcoal. It is called Alcantara, an Italian product used by Porsche, BMW and Mercedes on their exclusive models. Only one importer in the US, Gulf Fabrics. It is some fine stuff!!!

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
That is nice material...I've seen it mixed with leather and it's really sharp!
Stinks about the carpet. Guessing you won't have it now by the show...

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
DOH! It's on my bucket list. The Burb would make it no problem. I was just hoping to wait until a year when I didn't have to drive 20 hours just to START the tour. haha.

I love the way that the factory black leather seats look in your truck.
Keep up the good work. Marc

Thanks, they're super comfy, heated, and free since I parted out the rest of the truck and got my original investment back.
