Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Tore apart the passenger side door and got the lock and door handles working right. Also got the window rolling up and down properly and lubricated the hell out of everything. I need to get some more interior door panel screws. It only had 4 left in it...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I have a 63 Chevy short box that I was/may still convert to a GMC because the dash is butchered bad.
It will take me a week of patchwork to fix all of the little mods that the PO made all over this cab not to mention the dash.
I think the problem was that the PO may have suffered from cranial rectal inversion disease... not sure.
Give a kid a sawzall and watch out I guess...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

The guys in brown showed up with some packages for me today. Unfortunately it is a work day for me (grave shift with a 50 mile one way commute), so I won't be able to get a whole lot done. In the boxes are: lowered spindles, Energy Suspension a-arm bushing set, ball joints, and a set of Russel's steel braided brake lines. Now all I need is a junkyard run for a booster and master cylinder, and for my rotors to show up, and I'll be ready for my disc swap.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed the rear bed fuel door, got the tank finished, adjusted the cab and bed lines and got them a lot closer than they were, finished tying down the brake lines and transmission cooler line, installed radiator, getting ready for the heater lines and the radiator hoses. Waiting on rear bumper brackets so we can final install the fuel tank at the rear of the truck. Oh did anyone tell you guys that it is hot outside

Thank You, it is getting closer to being finished........

Today-------installed windshield squirters, new lines, etc......

Installed cowl below windshield

Installed 2 top corner cowl pieces, plus radio antenna,

Oh by the way there are 3 of us working on this truck trying to finish it.....

I have been shagging parts and my 1 mechanics IS working on body parts which will not dry in this humidity we sealed the front fenders and at 10:00am and they still are not dry........we masked the gmc letters for the grille so we could shoot green inthem (where red usually is) that took 2 hours just to mask those pesky things off.......oh well should shoot the green on the fenders and the tailgate tomorrow morning, then clear them 2 hours later....its about time. THEY ARE ADJUSTING THE HOOD AS WE SPEAK.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Looks good! What exactly is the zchrome for? Isn't it just for bare metal to keep it from rusting? Maybe I am thinking of something else. Zchrome isnt that sprayable "filler" primer is it?

Yes the z chrome is the sprayable filler primer, we had been fighting the fenders for a week or more and the zchrome was the only way to get them where they looked decent..............otherwise I would have filled them full of holes-----if you know what I mean.

Oh we finished unmasking the grille what do you think....?

Looks like your daughters first golfing Bogie..but you scored a hole in one with the trim.

A couple of years ago when we arrived home from a vacation camping trip I asked my daughter to back her mom's Honda out of the garage. I did not ask her to back it into the front of the TrailBlazer in the driveway. Two..two..two..hits with one !

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I am of the opinion that this site has the best members you could want to share our common interest with. After posting about my new custom body work I went out to work on the damage with my future son in law, he almost has the cowl corner or whatever it's called about 75% repaired. I just came in and had a PM from "Old Chevy Truck" he offered condolences for the damage, then, here is the part that reinforces the great members part. He offered me a killer deal on the needed trim to replace my damaged piece, FREE, just pay the shipping. Thanks, I am blown away by your kindness and will be in touch to thank you via PM.

No I'm not gonna blow up the golf cart, my 2 yr old grandson likes it too much.

I know what you mean, I was searching around for some radiator support aprons and Markebo1 shipped some to me free of charge (he said he just wanted the freight) They are nicer than anything one could find at a boneyard and he is greatly appreciated. Kieth

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

put my old air condenser and lines in, excellent kit, be sure and check out the radiator I have listed on Ebay, free shipping to the lower 48, its a engineered products that has a bad bow corner to corner, the tranny lines are an inch off of where they need to be you will have to trim both supports, It would be ok if you are not using electric fan as the sides were not flat when it was welded, its at less than 4 bucks, not worth more than 50 and all money 100% is going to charity, I sold the champion I had that fit fine, and have a new one on the way, i will ship in the champion box

Thanks

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I'm of a similar mindset, kids are expensive and accidents happen. Get upset, fix it, move on. It nice the damage wasn't worse and the parts are removable. Also nice to hear a supportive forum member could help you out!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I have had a stack of parts sitting in the garage for a few months now and decided I should do something about it while I am waiting to buy some other stuff. So I pulled the heater off, got the wires cleaned up, then started pulling off the fuel system.

I have an Edelbrock dual plane manifold, Edelbrock carb, and HEI distributor ready to be installed. I still need my HO 3 wire alternator and some new engine hardware.

Got all the surfaces prepped, threads chased, and ready to install. Hope to have a chance to get it all back together next weekend. I'll repaint the engine bay and put in all new belts and hoses.

Anyone else get sidetracked easy? I am working on my interior, but decided to work on the motor since I have most of those parts. But now I am looking at new valve covers, new air cleaner, looking at AC options. Man, I need a project manager to keep me on task.

I always get side tracked, I start in one place and end up somewhere else. I have been stacking parts getting ready for my 5.7 TPI install.
