Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Took my 15 year old grandson for his first ride in the truck yesterday. He's still smiling.

Very nice. Did you use the wire push-in clips that came with the moulding, and were you able to use any kind of sealer around the clips? Also, Is that door edge guard on the drip rail? I like them both, and yes, I'm a chrome addict, LOL. I have a set of the cab trim but haven't installed it yet.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got the junction block off the fuel tank under the floor last night- tube on both sides was packed solid with sediment.

Took a bit of work with some wire rod to get through it, and get the last 3-4 gallons of gas out of the tank. Nasty stuff after 13-14 years of sitting.

left it dripping overnight- i'll pulll the tank tonight and hose it out with water and take a peek inside- see if its going to be useable or not.

Pulled the battery, looks like it was brand new the year it was parked- attempted to charge it but only get 7.5 volts out of it (12volt battery) so its got some bad cells i guess. Not a big surprise, but was hoping it might be useable.

Hoping to go pickup my "new" 1bbl carb (off a running 67 elcamino 6 cyl) this week.

A few steps closer to trying to wake this thing up from its slumber!

I had the same issue on my 51 GMC, I had it boiled out and resealed at a local radiator shop, replaced the original steel fittings with brass, and got a new hose from Jim Carter Truck Parts.

Removed the BOWING from bedsides! Believe it happened when the sandblaster guy did his thing. Tried and tried to work it out and finally, a bright idea!

When all attempts to repair fail CALL A TOW TRUCK !

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

So far, I've got my OBD-2 connector wired in. In a few I'll head to the store for yet more bolts & finish tying down all the brake / fuel lines.

Looks good JJ, but you've GOTTA get some "JJ red oxide" on those.

I don't know much about Cameo's but are the tailgate, spare cover, etc parts available reproduced or will you have to go on a scavenger hunt for those used....someplace?

PS: Is it the angle of the photos or do the rear rims need more positive offset now with the bit wider wheel wells? Still looks great though.

I'll have to mix up a batch when the time comes, but will need some repair work first! Yep the hunt is on for the missing parts, so it will be awhile before I put them on.

The step side fenders are still on the truck, so they are pushing the sides out and making the offset look funny.

That looks great, I love Cameo's. I'm glad you got them.

I check CL every day and saw those but decided I wasn't ready for that upgrade.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got the new gas filler neck adapted to the old tank. Drove the truck to the gas station. First time driving it further then the end of the street. It REALLY needs a tune up. lol

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Just about finished getting the bed ready to go back together (new stake pockets attached - thanks Alex!), and finally got all the old rubber off the six lug wheels. Next I'll get them all cleaned up, painted and ready for some decent used tires. This low budget show should be hittin' the road in the next few weeks! A 33 year dream is about to be realized...
