Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Much to my chagrin, I had to call an electrician to put a GFCI outlet in one of the bathrooms in the rental house. I bought one, but can't figure out how it should be installed. It's a two-gang, along with a light switch for the bathroom light. Don't anyone tell me how to do it, I'm already embarrassed enough. Or, just MAYBE, I'm sick and tired of working on that place, and just want it gone, with other people doing the work for $100. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the reason.

Steven, I knew that house would go fast. It's in a really good neighborhood and nobody really sells there too often. I wanted too sell it when we moved but my wife wanted to keep it so we rented it out. Never again although the price of houses did go up considerably in the time it was rented. So it's a win I think.

I did come down a little on the price. Not much. The housing market is weak right now. Prices are going down which is a drag if you're just selling. But I'm selling and buying so I'll make it up on the other end. The house I'm buying is 200K less than what they were asking a year ago. Now it's just all the escrow BS. It's supposed to close by the end of the month. Fingers crossed.
X2 on the Coors plate. It would look great on my shop wall.

When I replaced the GFCIs in my house it told you which wire goes where on the back of the outlet.

I have red, white and orange wires, and don't want to deal with it.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I got a DUI in '00 at 45 years old. When I was being questioned at my first appointment she asked if this was my first DUI and I answered "No". She looked confused since she had read over my record with no prior DUI showing. She asked if I was sure and I said, "I'm sure this isn't my first. It's my last". At the end of the interview I told her I understood there is a whole process I have to go through, same as everyone else, because of what I was arrested for. But I don't need to be treated as someone with a drinking problem. I drove 29 years with no DUI, so either I don't have a drinking problem or I'm really good at driving drunk . What else can I say? I learned my lesson.

sounds like my impaired...cop says you been drinking and driving...i'm like no sir, i was drinking then went driving...lucky he had a sense of humor, but mind ya, back in the '80's a dui was just looked at a lot like a speeding ticket.
must be cv week for me. wife comes home yesterday with a cv clanging on her envoy. after what happened with the stepper cv, i went to the parts store and paid more than online, but who cares...tried to save a few bucks with my truck and it bit me in the a$$ royally. my son is getting more practical experience working on our junk than he does at work..lol
will admit, is nice having the young, strong arms to crack some of these bolts and do the grunt work..

I could use that here. Unfortunately my son has skinny toothpick arms like I did at his age (ie....muscle...NO ) plus he is 7 hrs away in Texas, so grab a bigger/longer ratchet is where I end up.

yeah, isn't it crazy how fast they grow up? where does the time go...
i'm 5' 10" and 190lbs, he's got a couple inches height on me and about 15 more pounds. happy to have him around still, with my torn rotator cuff, he's been really picking up the slack and helping his old man get things done.
it just seems like yesterday....

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Got my ole Baja (AKA Crispy Critter) into my messy shop finally. Now I just have to clean her up. Stay tuned.

I bought 2 cans of PB Blaster, 18 cans of beer, and Band Aid's. I think that I'm going to need them. Everything is locked up tighter than a virgin with a mean daddy.

First time with a roof over her head in 45+ years. Almost rear ended my buddy's truck twice tugging her in. (no brakes) But he's got a F250 so no big deal.

I ordered a new hood 6 weeks ago and it's still MIA. I called and gave them some grief so maybe I'm on the back burner. They seem sensitive and I may have insulted them with my "slow boat from China' remark.

October??? That's ridiculous. I guess I've had good luck because all my tires have got here fast and I've bought plenty lately. My biggest problem is getting them mounted. The tire place by my place won't do it unless you buy the tires from him. The guy is a jerk about it. Funny thing is that the house that I just bought is directly across the street from his. Howdy neighbor remember me? I'm the guy that you told to take a walk.

Sheepdip, you are correct. 18 beers is not enough especially if my buddies come over to "help'. Those guys can smell beer from a mile away.

Tim, that VW does look like an orange doesn't it. It's shaped like one. I'm going to keep it orange. Why not, I already have the Kawasaki lime green Bug and the lemon yellow Thing. I have all the citrus fruits covered.

I got my new fancy pants deep fryer yesterday, so it's going to be deep fried whatever is on sale at the market today.

A flat black hood will do just fine with orange.

You mean someone still makes baja kits?

Grapefruit.. Dang it I knew that I missed one.

Yeah Boog they still make them. Mostly the one piece front ends that I didn't want. I just want a hood to replace the one that the wind got. I ordered it December 3rd.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Went over to the rental house to make a measurement for our realtor. She wanted to know the distance from the house to the wall at the property line. A realtor showed up with prospective buyers just as I pulled up, so I waited about an hour until they left. Ain't supposed to talk to the owners...

Anyway, I made the measurement (11 feet and change, in case anyone is interested, ), then went inside to see what damages were incurred, and to turn the water on for the toilet in the bathroom that got new flooring. Made a basic security check. They left the sliding glass door unlocked. My wife called our realtor with that dimension, and mentioned that business with the door. Our realtor will spank the other one and put up notes to the effect that they should lock the place up before they leave. All we need is for a prospective buyer to leave a door unlocked and move into the place. Man, I'll sure be glad when this place is out of our hands. I'll be over there again, as usual, and if I have to stay over there to make sure it's locked up, I will.

Wish my Envoy undercarriage looked like yours . I'm milking it till the frame is unrepairable then I'll pull the motor and the interior for one of my trucks

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

The stove looks great Mark. I'd love to clean mine up but it's always going in the cold weather. It'll be a summer project.

Today I cleaned 45 years worth if of dirt and garbage out of my Bug. I found some 30.06 shell casings in there too. I don't know what's up with that but I filled up 3 trash cans. What a disgusting mess. I was surprised how solid the floorpans were. The weather-stripping (what weather-stripping?) was fried and it leaked. I had a little pond in the car. But the floors held up. Now I just need to rust treat them and put in the silver stuff.

I had my kitchen knives sharpened by my neighbor. I don't know how he does it but he gets them like razor blades. I hate dull knives. Have you ever tried to slice a tomato with a dull knife. That's what you call a mess. It'll probably be a mess when I cut one of my fingers off.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

After much digging and looking at all my friend's parts staches, I picked up a late 60s air cleaner for the camaro. Even though the breather cap isn't chromed like the factory model is, this will work ok. It has seen better days, but I will beat out the dings and slick it up. It was for an automatic car, so some welding anf filling is needed. I removed the vacuum unit on the snorkel and gave it a trial fit.it is amazing how hard it is to find original parts for these vehicles that we do. They used to repop this, but I guess, not any more.
