Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Last week this little shed was overflowing. That pine burns like the clap. I wanted oak but couldn't get any. I need to call my buddy and get some more. My wood stove has a big appetite.

My house and the shed are getting painted. So I have to wait on the wood because it's less wood for the painters to move. So far they haven't painted anything, just prep work and it's a wood house that hasn't been painted in years so it's a lot of prep. They've been sanding and pounding on the walls for a few days now. It drives my dog crazy. He darned near bit one of them the other day, the guy got a little too close to the fence. I tell people do not go near the fence. I can open the gate and let you in and he's fine. But if the gate is closed and I'm not there don't go near the fence.

Nothing wrong with pine as long as it’s dry

I know people survive on wood heat in areas with only evergreen wood. You burn what grows where you live. I remember being shocked we were burning redwood when I lived in Fortuna. Heck, the house I lived in was built all out of redwood.

After seeing that I think it could be a factory thing , there's one in my area that I see once in a while , very unique

It is a factory thing there for a year or two. Is a throwback to the square body era of paint schemes.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I knew about them from here but have never seen one. Boy, when Harley did their 100th anniversary models ('03) it seemed like most bikes that year were 100th anniversaries. Many were waiting for the year top come and buy one. I had my thoughts as well. They started drumming people up with 85th anniversary models, then every 5 years. People bought the 100ths as if they were an investment. Too many made for that!

That retro 2-tone could have been done by an individual. I'd have to have the factory, dealer, or conversion co. produced ones to compare to. Those I recall had other touches such as white wheels, emblems, and stickers.

yes sir,i realize an individual could have done it.i looked close to see if it was backyard and appeared to be well done.white and blue across the tailgate with blue "chevrolet" letters in the white.i think the silver wheels were on winter tires so the summer wheels were off,no idea what they looked like.maybe it was home made,i don't know just cool as all.
i had a new 2000 Electra Glide that was destroyed in a crash when a young girl changed into my lane,it was a month old so i ordered another 2001 Electra Glide and decided i wanted a 100th anniversary Electra Glide and my dealer found one for me.it was a beauty.i rode it to Milwaukee for the 100th and then a in 2009 decided i wanted another new one and ordered a new 2009.i hated it,it was a lemon so i tryed to buy my 100th bike back, only to find that a month after i sold it,the guy took off with some friends for the Blue Ridge Parkway and roared into a guard rail on a sharp turn.the bike was all smashed and caught fire.i asked where the bike was now.he said they swept it up off the road, nothing left.it may have never been an investment but i wished i had hung onto it.

The 100 anniversary Chevy is like Indian saying it’s the oldest American motorcycle . They both neglect to say that they went bankrupt filled chapter 11 and restarted as new companies .

“The United States created a plan to help reorganize General Motors under Chapter 11. The new company, General Motors Company LLC, is entirely separate from the original General Motors. A variety of changes have been made to the structure of the company to ensure that it will be more successful in the future“

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Back in October I was driving through Cumberland, MD when a train was coming along the track. I pulled over hoping to get a good skyline shot with mountains and the churches in the background. eh, not quite what I was after, but...
and where I pulled over I thought was kind of neat. And old parts store/machine shop at the end of a neighborhood street. Back when if you lived in a city it meant you could walk down the street for what you needed

When I look at it that way it means Chevrolet Motor Car Company only lasted from 1912-1916. Those would be the only years it was it's own company before becoming Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors company. Chevrolet didn't go bankrupt, General Motors did. In that restructure GM ended some of their divisions, but Chevrolet remains. They never stopped operations in that restructure, so continuous production other than strikes. Even through warfare they kept on cranking for the war cause. In paperwork GM ended and General Motors Company LLC began, but Chevrolet has been making cars since 1912 in true reality. Looking at the legal/paperwork world way, yes it's a new company because General Motors is. But I see it as a GM thing not a Chevrolet thing. Didn't Hummer end with GM but continue under new ownership like so many long running brands we know? Harley Davidson was sold and bought back by employees, but never stopped making motorcycles since 1903. I see it as however you choose to look at it. I tend to not GAF about the legal end of a business. The product is all that matters at my end of the deal.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

How can you see it that way Tim . The parent company dissolved, each division aren’t a separate entity . They all went belly up ,if GM wasn’t able to restructure they all would have failed .

A company mergers and acquisitions aren’t really the same as a company going bankrupt and ceasing to exist .

All semantics anyway . Just my take on the whole deal .

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I thought I explained it well how I can see it that way. I wasn't arguing with your facts, only showing there is a way to see that Chevrolet has been making cars continuously since 1912. In 2022 that made 100 years of producing Chevrolets no matter how GM was structured. I guess my thinking is less rigid than yours. I had a builder go bankrupt on me owing me $49,000. He started back up under a new name. Once he filed, the Fed sent me a letter ordering me not to continue collection efforts or even speak about it to this crook. The way I see it that person ripped me off, still owes me $49k, and I am absolutely $49k poorer no matter how you look at it. I'm about natural reality far over man-made. My way sure doesn't work well the way the world has turned but I am true to my own being, not mumbo jumbo on paper.

I see shades of the Studebaker thing lingering here. Sorry If I'm wrong. But I have seen you post how Studebaker is still in business, they just don't build cars anymore and I guess under another name. So why should people say Chevy had it's 100th anniversary when GM went bankrupt before Chevy hit 100. My first point stands, looking at it the way you are (which is supported by conventional wisdom), then Chevrolet was only in business for 5 to 6 years. After that it became merely a product of GM and they declared bankruptcy . Like I said, it's all how you choose to look at it. I choose to see it the way I do. We're not in front of a judge, so what's the worry? I'm comfortable with having my own point of view and that doesn't require you or anyone else to agree. There is always more than one point of view.

There's a red house over yonder.
Supposed to get the trim done tomorrow. I'm doing it in tan.
I like it better than the dirty diaper brown it was before.

Nice deep red. Tan will look nice with it. I took some pictures at the crossroads at US50 & US219, a major hiway interchange in the small highly populated state of Maryland. This place is known as "Red House". The house shown, I believe, was red. Nothing there businesswise. Might still be a bar there.

I was thinking, Dave, from what you've told me, "Here's Dave's left turn". We came up on 219 from the south heading north. The signs get bigger down the road a piece in Washington, DC . America's Loneliest Road? Our little strip in Maryland lives up to it fairly well. not so much down by DC.

For a picture I took, how about an unmistakable, undisputable, untouched bigfoot photo I honestly took myself. Trust me, it is very real!

For a picture I took, how about an unmistakable, undisputable, untouched bigfoot photo I honestly took myself. Trust me, it is very real!
Yeah a left turn for me off of US 50. I take Ohio 32 out of Cincinnati, which intersects with US 50 around Athens OH. This is all a nice 4 lane divided highway without a lot of big truck traffic. At Clarksburg WV, it becomes a windy two lane and eventually intersects with US 219 at your picture. Then left on 219 north.

I have traveled a bunch of HWY 50 between St Louis and Delta Colorado.

The ability to speak several languages is an asset, but the ability to keep your mouth shut in any language is priceless.
