Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finally got the rest of my 80's camaro steerig colunm assembly. I was thinking the steering column rod wouldn't fit my power steering but after testing it out it fit perfectly to column and to power steering unit!! Score!!!

Fellas and ladies I can't count the number of times I've bought stuff for my project that ultimately didnt fit or I just no longer had a use for...So big yard sale after I finish the build LOL!!!! Trucks are looking good guys (and gals!)

Picked up supplies for the addition. Wish the honey-do-list would quit multiplying like a rabbit so I can work on my truck!

My soda doesn't cake up, its just the 40 year old paint is real stubborn. I have to hold my blast tip about an inch away from the surface which means I'm only stripping about a 1/4" strip each pass.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Not a lot done on my '67 project lately. Today I pushed it farther back in the garage so I could get the 4Runner part of the way in to remove the starter.

My son stopped by for a while with one of my 17 year old grandsons and we talked trucks for while. I gave him some bulbs for his shop lights and some wheel centers. He is dropping the ceiling down in half of his shop and partitioning it off so he can work on and paint trucks this winter.

A few days ago we went to another board member's and checked out his swb 1968 fleet and to talk trucks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Kinda running a day behind, but yesterday I replaced the rear brake hose, finally got fluid to the rear wheels! Added note, if you have your wife pump the pedal, make sure she watches for brake fluid spraying onto the windshield! I left the cap off and apparently there was enough air to spray all over the engine compartment and over the top of the cab! Sure glad I don't have good paint on anything yet!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed my Hotchkis rear sway bar yesterday to match my Hotchkis front bar. Its a sway bar off of a 82-92 F-Body. Got the idea off a thread I read started by mrh33916. The install was pretty straight forward and worked out really well, almost like it was meant for the truck. Got the frame brackets off of ebay. Also installed my rear emergency brake cables and repainted my exhaust after having to modify it for my Big Block changeover

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Started my cummins and found a leaky radiator. Well, ordering that and fabricating exhaust, it was kind of loud with it straight out of the turbo.

Got my big block back from the machine shop, cleaned it up nicely and painted it. It looks great, Dad and I will be putting it back in asap.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

The time had come to replace the original, broken, rusting out, mirror heads.

For less than $25.00 for both sides, the white heads have been replaced with stainless steel backed ones.

Both new mirrors weighed less than one of the originals and the high angle one for the passenger side has a bit more distortion in the mirror than the original.

I'd loved to have stayed original, but the cracked mirrors were posing a danger to safe driving and both units were rusting out at the top.

One thing is for sure. The new ones won't last 40 years like the originals did.

The new ones are K-Source West Coast Mirror Head (Part No. RH066) from Advance Auto Parts. They are priced at $16.49 each, but there is an online coupon code for their website of A123 which takes $10 off a $30 or more purchase with free pickup in store.

That got my total down to $22.98 plus sales tax.
