This weekend was my best weekend since being in America last year.


Dennis finished up the dash rebuild on his red truck over the weekend.

Another lovely tool.



Sunday I picked up a lady for Bootfair and ultimately the rest of the day.
Certainly beat being alone.

Coffee, grand tour back home then a long walk up to the farm.

Later I did a great BBQ as well and then returned the visitor home.... safely.



Monday, being a bank holiday there was another Bootfair.

Perfect.

Craig had asked me to keep,an eye out for some industrial strength castors....

In the afternoon I took the bike out and rode over to Craig’s to deliver his stuff, and also to do some of the planning for our USA Road trip later this year.

Made is 250miles on the bike over the weekend.

Free for collection by prior arrangement etc.

Of course it would mean finding, buying the support structures and putting it all up.

Would also mean a lot of covered space for more “Stuff”

So am I being an idiot, or is this a go for it kind of job....??



In other news, I bought an air rifle last weekend,

Why?

Because there are a couple of large rats patrolling between the properties and I see them cross the lawn to or from the neighbours.



Also cut the hedges over the weekend when rain allowed me to.

Have discovered that I have some Wrens nesting at the back by the garage.

That makes is three pairs of birds nesting on my property.

Bush pigeons, Blackbirds and the Wrens.

Plus of course the Fox who comes to look for food every night, pisssing the cats off no end.

Nice score on the roofing tin. I am working toward a shed for my farm and have the opportunity to get the coversheets from all the pallets of metal paneling being put on a building at work. Talking with the contractor, we have found that the building supplier sent sheeting to cover two openings that get an overhead door. both of those are 20' tall and 20' wide. I get all of those sheets too!

I say, if you need to covered space, go for it!

Used for cavity inspections for Fire Marshalls.

First house I designed about 25 years ago and built in Simons Town, Cape Town.

Still a lovely place.



Another bonus this week.....

Got to see the Wrens nest and eggs.

I also realised that the Blue Tits have moved into a nesting box I put up this year.

This means I actually have 5 species of birds nesting on my property which pleases me immensely.






Let’s hope a few manage to be fledged.

Had a great BBQ with friends last night, only two Bud Lights, and to sleep at 11.30.

By 03.00 Insomnia my friend came knocking......

Made a cuppa tea and back to bed, joined by a noisy bed bug.



That was the end of my night.

By 6.30 it was off to Bootfair and I found a few small random items.

My winner of the day was this hardwood sign for my garden.



At 2 pm I had a lunch and dog walking date at Upnor.

On the Medway river.



A good lunch and a drink at The Pier pub and restaurant followed by a McFlurry.



And so ended my weekend.

More training and stress this coming week.

Cats are strange creatures.

They will take on and kill stuff their own size, yet if you put down a piece of meat or ham bigger than a 5p or 10c piece they walk away as it’s too big.

Likewise, my two have a water fountain with running water to drink from, it gets cleaned completely every week, including the pump.

But let it rain even just a little bit, and both are out there like feral cats gathering the rainwater like they are in a desert.

I went out early to get some meat etc as there was a big BBQ in the afternoon.

I also came home via Chatham Dockside on my motorbike and parked it where the bicycle parking hoops are near an entrance.

When I came back 10 minutes later there was a Parking Charge attached to the tank.........

For £100.00 and if O paid soon, within 14 days it would be £60.00

Heavy handed in my opinion, and as there are no demarcated motorcycle parking spaces, I had parked where I did, not obstructing anything or anyone.
On leaving I had it pointed out to me that there are bike parking places with no clear indication outside the car park.

I will NEVER go back to this shopping centre and with all the businesses there sh!t luck like many already have had.

And if I can influence even one other to boicot them, then it’s good in my book.

This sort of parking management deserves only unpleasantness as does the company that employs the enforcers.


I may be wrong but I really am not happy.





In other news, the little vermin hunter air rifle I had bought off Oblertone had been brought back to Essex by “Chad” and then collected by Dave “Revvin’ Steven” and brought over by him and his mate Trevor on their bikes, must have looked impressive with a rifle slun over your shoulder riding a bike down the motorway.

Dave is a bit of a dead eye keen shot and knows his way around fire arms.

So I printed off targets for him.



Got the kettle going, while he fitted and set up the scope......




Nothing like a cuppa, some biccies and shooting stuff.

Now for a bit of useless information

Dave was in a the Navy as a young man and used to along with his mates, ride their bikes like hell.

Who of you know what the Black section in the middle of the pedestrian crossing lollypop sign is for??

Where Dave is pointing.

Well, believe it or not.......

It is a small chalk board.

For writing the registration number of cars or bikes that endanger kids using the crossing’s lives.

Dave and a mate got called up on orders in th navy after a night of spirited riding, it seems they had their bike license numbers written on one and submitted in evidence........




After Dave left I had a coffee and sat and pulled off a few shots at the target, the breeze flipped it over after a few shots and I then shot two more shots at the post that it had stood against.

This is at 25 meters, measured out.

You have to look in the distance near the garage under the tree.......

It’s a fair distance.

It’s the first time in 30+ years I have started shooting again. It’s been a long time.

I will only kill the enemy.

WATCH THIS....!!!



Steven my current 20 week lodger (welding contractor) and I grabbed a few beers, a target and some pellets this week.

Shooting at 25 meters from just inside the house.



Nothing special, and my excuse is not shooting for over 30 years.



The next evening I grabbed some more pellets and had three short sessions.

So much more practice needed.

But it is fun for sure.

The rusting process on the background is now going well, spreading evenly.

She is happy and sent the pic.



Thursday evening I went over to visit a lady who has a cat and a dog......

Perfect for me yes.

Her surprise was great when her cat made himself at home in my arms, seems he is not really bothered with visitors.

Earlier on I had to select a pocket knife as I was taking along some dried and smoked Russian game sausage and while deciding which one of about three to take, I realised there were a lot more knives than one person really needed.



In the end the Case won out.

Meet “Wyzz” her dog and companion.

He seemed to like me too, after giving me the once over.........



He settled down draping himself over me.



Not sure if the smoked sausage had anything to do with the friendship.

One of my best weekends in months.

Friday I saw a GP for an ongoing back issue that has been getting worse.

He will be refering me for a spinal MRI.

Saturday I did all my yard and housework as I have been a bit distracted recently.

In the afternoon I took the bike out and rode over to Craig’s place to go ride with him and his wife.
Lorraine is a new rider with under 300km on her tacho so far.

Her Honda Grom looks toy like next to the GS.



Craig’s 250 commuter so that he can guide her at a sensible pace.

Like me, he has ridden bikes since about age 10. (I started at 13 and never stopped)



I brought up the rear most of the day.

Lorraine is a very confident rider as she has driven all her life, and understands road craft intuitively





After coffee and cake we split and I headed home via Maidstone and Woodsie place.

At the end of the day I did 185 miles for the day.

Woodsie noticed that my rear drive was weeping oil, so a rebuild is on the cards.

Sunday Bootfair scores included this sign used on out of service trains and some old piece of equipment, still to be investigated.



Some collectors coins and a mini tankard.

Tankard May be headed to Winfield, Kansas.





Had a lady friend over for a BBQ yesterday, minus her dog, Wyzz as my cats would not be impressed.

Took her for a walk up to the farm to show off.......

In other news, mate Martin has started back on his truck.

Regarding the ladies... you got that tight.


Did a quick 15 shots in sets of 5 last night.

Using a single point rest and my shoulder there is clearly a lot of movement still.

I will be using a more solid rest next.

But prefer the idea of pulling the weapon up and just st shooting as pigeons and rats don't wait for you to get comfortable.



After runnong down to Faversham to collect a new 200 Amp Mig welder I bought yesterday........ more to report later. I popped in to see my buddy Wyzz and his mistress. Got fed too.... Bargain.

Funny creature, he likes to sit upright like this.

I guess it had to happen some time.......

We all respond differently to life’s challenges.

Thank you all fo the support and patience while I dragged my butt on the Chevy truck resto by doing all sorts of other stuff and observing life around me.

Many of you have been willing me on to get back to the truck, but it has its own schedule.

So here is a clue.

Time to start back on the truck.

Bought the welder direct from Rally Design and collected it from mate Neil in Faversham last night.

Thanks mate.

Looking forward to getting the wire and dialling it in, then starting the cut, weld, grind boogie.

Unpacked it in the lounge earlier, remember who pays the mortgage..... it’s a lovely machine.

Can do both MiG and arc or stick welding..

He asked if I was interested in buying a Snap On toolbox.

Considering my tools have lived here the last two years........






The answer had to be yes please.

So tonight after work I took Prozac and headed down to Neil's place again, cash in hand,

After cleaning up the toolbox for me, we had to carry it between and over two Mercedes Benz’s

And into the back of this amazing little van.



Back at home......



Next up will be cleaning it up, cleaning the tools and packing the lot up.

And then.....

Truck time, inbetween living life as we know it.

In the mean time the six baby birds keep growing.
