Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Ok After spending the last hours serching the net I found this post off the site.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=361190

According to the 2nd. post it says to mount the rubber to the glass FIRST then fit it to the frame. We'll try that tomm.

Thank goodness I have not monted the doors. Another tip was to call safelite auto glass they may install it? If all else fails I'll try them.

Since both Vaseline and rubber are both petroleum products, the vaseline will start breaking down the rubber right away.
Hate to see you have to buy a new one.

I have done the rope trick with other windows just not one of these. I also used soapy water to help get it in. Just be careful.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Don't have any project progress, but I have been driving my '65 daily now for a couple weeks since the ignition switch in my Blazer took a dump. To and from work, around town for errands, and to the shop and back for other projects, she has been running great with no issues or complaints. Oh, I did put new wiper blades on her yesterday, guess that counts.

Got the wood cut down for the bed - am still in the process of cutting all those stinking edge grooves!
I think I'll go with natural finish on the white oak, it really brings out the grain.

My daughter did mine not long ago and it does look much better. Last time it was done, it was with a Sharpie

I notice that too. Must have been the tweeters I have on the shelf that are waiting for installation.

Made some more room in the garage so I can work on her better. Got my eye on an air compressor on Craigslist. I have plenty of space for it now....

Changed the oil to Mobil 1 High Mileage, first time I’ve ever used a synthetic. Hopefully it’s worth the investment. Also replaced two spark plugs and Rain-X’d the windshield.

Fixed a fuel leak and hung a fender on to get an idea of how it's gonna look:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I like the Log home, got any other pictures? The wife and I are seriously considering having a Log home built over the next 5 years, when I retire. The "technology" for interlocking has come a long way as well as the weather proofing. There is just something about the look. The cost is roughly the same becasue you save on the interior finishing.

IMO it looks vintage old school hot rod being shiny. However if you don't paint it I am betting you will hate it when the sun is shinning, the glare will be terrible!

Lovin' the way those gauges look. You did a fine job Kieth!

Does the Bat-o-meter work?

Here is a picture of the Dash surround before the chrome, I think it would look good just outlining the flat black around each gauge and flat blacking the inner surface of each gauge face, what do you guys think ??

http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...67555370_kvfaG

took the new cluster over to a friend of mine who does pinstriping, he said that the flat part of the dash should be black wrinkle paint to give it more texture and pick up the black gauge faces which will then contrast with the chrome . He is enough of a artist that I think he is correct. Will show pictures when it is finished. Kieth

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Played with a paint scheme for the rat/worn look. Getting ready for the first cruise night and since the paint was already worn looking, I made it more worn looking.

I am going to be rolling through Howell on my way back to Arizona later this month. Have personal business in the U.P., Flint and Fowlerville. Would like to check out the ride.
