Installed new tubular v8 motor mount on my 57 3200 set my 327 in place and checked the degrees on the differential and engine both match, took some time but a good set up when dropping in a v8

Re: What Di)) You Do With Your Truck Today ?
lost both sets of keys to the expedition. drove the truck from round rock back to kingsland where we are moving to. 57 ran great, no overheat, 2200 rpm at 60, 2500 at 70+, alt charged, oil pressure way up there. Wife was along (she has sworn never to ride more that a mile in it) complained about the shaking and rattling.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Nuthin. Spent today at my daughter's house installing baseboards over the newly installed laminate flooring we've been putting in the entire house the last few weekends.
I wish I could get back to my truck. Tax return coming fairly soon so I'll have some funds to make some progress.

Received my carb insulator and ceramic paint is 14 days cured now. Now more parts to put on engine. Still in teens here in Boston - too cold.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Yesterday I tore out the engine wiring to clean it up & make it serviceable, also installed a Mega fuse in between the alternator and battery. In the process, like a rookie, I touched B+ to radiator ground. Sprung a leak. One step forward, one step back. Over the next couple weeks, though, I'll be going over a lot of rush jobs and squaring things away.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Last weekend I did a little more on my radiator support. I bought a 65 mustang radiator (I think a 67 may have been a better choice as it is a couple of inches wider) I'm going to have to kick it out at the bottom a couple inches so I still need to make some brackets. I was out of gas for the welder.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Picked up a pair of radio knob delete "knobs", turned out seller was a member here Robs57. Got to spend a few minutes talking with him and his son about the projects. Nice warm shop and the truck looks great in person.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Been a while since I been here on the forum. Life happens, gotta do what you gotta do......
Well yesterday I picked up a nice running 307 from a guy about a hour or so from me. Got to hear it run and look it over just before we pulled it from a 70's pickup he was going to build. Ran really smoothly sounded great and only had one small oil leak around a value cover. It sits nicely in my shop awaiting a clean-up. Today my older son and I made a run to Summit Racing south of Atlanta to pick up a few items. Nice afternoon trip only about 80 minute drive, Got me a transmission crossmember, new short water pump and a new aluminum radiator. If I now can get the shop cleaned up in the next few weeks I hope to start back on my 53 again and add some new info and pictures to my build thread.......if I can find it again |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Started prepping the truck for the 2014 Hotrod Power Tour. Pulled off the old headers and exhaust and upgraded to 2.5 ram horn exhaust manifolds, started working on a single to dual pot master cylinder conversion, checked fluid in trans and rear and started a tune up.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Still working on odds and ends getting ready for paint I had to finish the rear drive train. The over drive unit finalized my decision to go from 3:08 to a 3:73 rear gear. I had some terrible spring perches on the axle, I made some new ones and welded them on. The truck would be no fun without a posi traction, so along with the gear change I went with a Yukon Dura grip unit. Had the new drive shaft made to fit the overdrive. All this along with the stabilizer bar and traction bars I can check a lot of items off the to-do list.
I know everybody likes pictures........... |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Added a little bling to my 55 2nd 3100. One of my differential cover bolts was just about stripped, so headed down to Ace hardware and checked out their stock of bolts. Chrome were $2.50 each, ouch! So I went with cad plated for 50cents a pop. 5 bucks and the problem was solved, and the bolts show up nicely in the headlights, especially cause my trucks rear is sky hi!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Got my 1 piece smooth rear bumper from Gibbons yesterday. Another project.
Cut the bumper bolt heads and made threaded plates to smooth the front bumper as per Kabwe's instructions. Made brackets and have the 944 Porsche mirrors ready to mount. Talked to the painter and looks like the end of April We go to the paint shop. Lots to do but I hope We can get it together!
