Had to take the cover off, charge the battery, and start her up as far as operating temperature before she went back to bed....Too many
"better-do-'ems" today...

Cleaned up the more of the grime today. This is the third time around with the scraper, p washer and gunk degreaser.
I almost feel bad about washing away the years of frame saving greasy tar like goop.

Lying in the wet greasy grass too blast the underneath isn't any fun. But I did reveal a Chelsea plate on the pto.
Think im Almost there MAYBE one more time around.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

i replaced the rubber fuel lines on my truck

I used Gojo lanolin hand cleaner on all the rubber bits under my truck.

I scraped about four lbs of grease sand and rocks off of my trucks frame and drivetrain.

I sucked about 2 gallons of bad gas out of my trucks fuel tank

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I ordered a factory style tach conversion for the instrument cluster, a new bezel, a door jamb switch harness, courtesy light harness, a new engine harness with HEI support built in and a new temp sending sensor. The temp gauge in my cluster has never really read the temps quite right, always reads low. I think this is because the sending unit is for a 1976 engine/truck (came with the sb400 I installed). I'm guessing 1976 gauges were calibrated differently. I hope to be buying new bucket seats soon as well.

Put some advanced safety feature in the truck. Out with the bench seat in with the power Sebring Convertible seats($50 half off sale at the junkyard). I also picked up a f-250 jumpseat off craigslist for $40 that needs to go in. I cant find a pic of the bench but oh well.

Thanks, they were a steal. I had to pull apart the passenger side seatbelt and rebuild it because it was stuck due to the accident. But everything went smooth, just about 10 minutes of my time and fiddling with the internals. I now need to figure out how to make a little extra room for my legs. I am 6ft and I lost about 2 inches of room. Next step is disc brakes and then getting parts for the LS swap to fit in the truck. The donor silverado is waiting patiently to be torn apart.

I am almost finished with my Electric Vacuum Pump install, just have to wire up the relay and test it out..... I also finished wiring up the electric power window crank switches on the modded window regulators, (I had to move the crank stub forward 3/4" forward to align with the door panel holes) since I was at it, I cleaned up the wiring and drilled the holes to pass the wiring through the hinge pillar and door, now to install some conduits, rubber or what ever works, I think the braided steel ones I made are too rigid, they walk the rubber grommets out of the holes I cut, oh well, something that won't be seen too much any way.
I also finished my Van tilt steering column the other day, and once I get my power windows in, I can finish up the weather strips/vent windows, etc.. and start driving this bad boy! Pictures to follow!
Have a good one!
Ben

Just dropped off my seat to have it patched. 2006 Silverado seats, driver's side has a hole in the fabric and into the foam, he said it may be done tomorrow, I hope so!

Today the cab got insulated, next on the list is heater by-pass valves to stop the flow of heat through the blower. This pic was before all the seams were taped up. All told less than $50.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Finally had the time to diagnose my lack of horn. Connection point under horn was filthy and simply needed to be cleaned.

Dual horn setup, one horn working, one horn not working. Soaking the non-working horn in WD40 to see if that clears up the issue.

Either way, got a working horn. Better than leaning out the window and yelling at bay area drivers.

Sanded the inside of the bed for the last couple of weeks, and also prepped some new parts. It got the first coats of primer today by my friend Justin, and now the sanding starts again.

Cancel spring wouldn't stay in place, I think a piece of the plastic broke off. Added a little jb weld to keep it in place. Tried to clean the speedo cable to get odometer working but problem must be in the trans gear. Aligned the hood a bit. Tightened the right valve cover was leaking a little in the rear.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Truck came with these seat covers so decided to use them for now. Replaced trans pan gasket last weekend but put a little too much fluid. Got this harbour freight suction thing, worked great. Added clamps to it to keep hoses from coming loose, not bad for 6.99.
