Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

A school mate had a stock 67 Camaro 327 2 barrel with 3ott from factory. I have never seen another Camaro with 3ott.

I believe three on the tree was the standard transmission everything else was an option .

Another odd ball I owned . 1970 Delta 88 with a 455 ci a/c buckets and center console with floor shift . We owned the car from 1971 until the 2003 . Took it out of my dads barn and it felt like it had a flat tire . No flat the frame rotted so bad the transmission was hanging and the shaft was whipping around .

A guy I grew up with had a 67 Firebird with a 3OTT and a bench seat. I have seen bench seats in a few other Camaro/Firebirds over the years with column shift automatic's, but 3OTT is pretty rare.

Where was this? Not your house I hope. Some call that gutter. I call it a poor excuse for it. That stuff is a bad idea. I wonder if this light is even hooked up. I don't see a wire run. Looks to be wedged into the hanger, no screws so not to cause leaks. I have to give whoever did this enough credit to not run the wire up into the gutter. I 'have to', right?

That tire pattern is exactly like the Kelly AWRs I used to run.

It has a military tag on it, from England I think, and now it's in the middle of Missouri. He bought it at auction, he buys and sells a lot of cars, trucks and parts.

I've been missing my wrecker. I used to love taking that out for a country drive. I'd get lots of smiles and waves.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Another nice sunrise at work this morning. It was cool to catch the St. John's Railroad bridge in the up position. It's the smaller bridge upstream of the big bridge.

The clear, cool weather made for a nice commute and a nice view.

Twin tornados are rare.

I am moving things around to get to where I can gut out my bedroom. I keep my beloved steering wheels there, so I had a chance to snap a shot. I still have to get the trucks but I already have their steering wheels

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Well... two are for the trucks I own now. And the saddle Olds comfort grip is an alternative for the OEM factory wheel. I had nine on the road when I started to reduce, so maybe work my way back to 3 or 4. I found yet another that was separated from the rest, a red Impala wheel from around 71/72

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I took this picture in 1980. I was living on this farm with my girlfriend who managed the place. Our apartment was the milking parlor converted. I worked on a framing crew building houses in the valley and that was real nice working close to home. Then the owners wanted to build a period correct addition on the 150 year old log farm house. I lined my boss up with the job and he put me on it, from the ground up. A great time in my life. I walked over to the house every morning. The farm had other vehicle we could use, so I tore my truck down to the frame and restored the body. Life was great!

Here is the addition nearly completed

Looking at the farm house and the pics I've seen of your house I'd say you do some really good work.

What kind of dog was that?

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Diabondo was a white German Shepard. The name came from a character in Heavy Metal Magazine which my girlfriend was 'heavy' into.

Thanks. Doing that addition back then is where I caught the historic preservation bug. But instead I went into aluminum siding contracting... kinda the opposite direction . That was about knowing I could make good money from the start. My next girlfriend had two kids so I became an instant daddy. That addition was a great experience for me. This job was heavy on architectural detail with some supervision from the architect. There was some log wall restoration involved, so I learned that. The walls in the big room downstairs had an inner 2x8 wall to give log wall depth at window openings which got inside shutters that folded into the jambs. The rake boards were tapered to narrower toward the top. The chimney was laid up within the wall. The dormars required the side framing to be 2x4s laid flat to give window trim width on the face. The one story kitchen attached to the main house got a second floor and a hallway built along the opposite end (of picture) had a bar downstairs and connected the bedroom above the kitchen to the addition. Just this one job gave me a depth of rich experiences on things not normally seen in typical construction. I went forward with a new sense of pride. I was purdy young yet. A truly great experience in my life. Sure beat working on a production framing crew!

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Just about everything you said I don't understand. lol I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to home construction although I have done a fair bit of remodeling on my home. I truly appreciate old world craftsmen and love the look of homes built when things like that still mattered. I cannot stand these new cookie cutter homes being built on the smallest allowable lots just so the "builder" can make way more money.

I would like a 2 story house with a 2 story chimney/fireplace setup. I always thought that would be cool. When I was a kid my uncle was a brick layer and he built my parents a fireplace and exterior chimney in our garage which my dad turned into a den.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I just want to add, the carpentry I do is something most anyone can do. But that sheet metal work like you're doing on the Camaro takes a lot more skill in my eyes. The closest thing in carpentry I can think of would be building wooden boats. That's probably even easier
