Re: Project truck dream 65"

So,I was driving down a country road today and caught a 64 step out the corner my eye !So naturally I had to stop in to meet the owner.

Turns out to be a pretty good fella,.... and........,he's got a spare bumper for me!..........and it looks mint !

Made a new friend in the process. There's something good in all of us old Chevy folks, always put's a smile on my face.

P.S. If any or you can help,Im looking for a C-20 emblem for a 1964 for my new friend...,Id appreciate it.Here's a pic to compare.

Re: Project truck dream 65"

In the shop again tonight. I'm building a mount for my A/C dryer. I'm not wanting to mount it in the traditional way...., at the rad support front,so I opted for inside the cab.

As it turns out, there only ended up being one good location after trying many.Access to the fittings will be a snap and the unit is now well hidden from view.

I'm pretty happy with all clearance and the fact I don't have to look at it now !

You might say I thinking outside the box !...., er ah the A/C box !

Thanks,I appreciate it.The engine however is a 383 stroker,I tossed the idea of the 283 a year or so ago as it just wouldn't produce the torque and horsepower I wanted.

Should end up with just over 400hp and 420 to 430 torque. It will be complete and on the dyno at the end of this month.....,and yes there will be pics of that for certain !

Re: Project truck dream 65"

I got my glass back from the glass shop recently. I'm pretty happy with the results, with a consistent polished edge on the drivers and passenger windows,Jody did a really nice professional job.

Before hand ,I cleaned up the glass channel and track's then painted them as they were looking pretty rough.

Once I decide which vent's I'm going to use,I'll have the new glass installed in them.I still have the originals as well as a stainless and chrome set,and I'm still uncertain which ones to use.

All glass was sent for tempering and is legal in the percentage of tint....,up here the "screws" are ticketing you if its to dark !

A special thanks to Jody at JB'S Auto Glass here in Kelowna !

Re: Project truck dream 65"

So when I started on the truck work this morning,I was hoping my 3rd time on the bedwood project is a charm.

This is the 3rd wood bed kit I have installed and now finally I'm happy.Everything fits snug and square !!!!!!!

I had this one made locally by a fine hardwood shop and opted for white oak as it doesn't react like a sponge when it gets wet...,its grain is much tighter.

A big Thanks to my gal for helping today, she got me motivated ! Believe me after installing and removing the last two times .........,I wasn't in much of a rush to do this again

Re: Project truck dream 65"

8 !*@#!* hours on my back and over the box edge today ! I didn't finish until 7:00 and started at 11:00 this morn.
It was worth it,here's some pics of the close to finished job.

So the final steps will be drilling for the inner boxside and tub bolts, cutaway for wheels, and UV coating....several !!

A special thanks to Harry and Leon at Specialized Woodworks, you did a stellar job !

Beauty, great choice with the white oak, and its always nice to have a little bit more local flavour on the truck! Might have to look into that if the stuff I've got doesn't work out.
