Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Ok I got the front control arms back so I managed to get quite a lot of the front end mocked up. Ball joints in Spindles, brakes and rack all fit up nice!

A few more with the transits on so I could get an idea of the turning radius and check some clearance issues.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Once the rear end was fit up and engine had all the clearance issues resolved I decided to take the motor out to clean it up. I also needed the motor out to finish some motor mount work and drilling holes for brake line, air line and fuel line clips/Mounting.

Awesome just read the thread all in one go from the start. It’s made a turn at the end to being a type of restomod. Your fab skills are impressive to watch. Also was so glad to see the 454 go in there I don’t know why but I’m always disappointed when I see ls engines going in

Great looking project! Really digging the old school big block. I'm gonna go the same route.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Since most of the parts are out for coating I figured it would be a good time to clean up the motor! I loaded it up and took it over to the pressure washer and steam cleaner! It cleaned up pretty good and removed off a ton of grease so now you can actually see all the original old orange paint.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
When I got the motor back home I noticed a lot of back and forth play on the balancer. I figured id better swap out the timing chain while it was on the stand. Good thing I took the front cover off because I noticed somebody put in one of the cheapest timing sets ever and the plastic cam gear and chain were shot! The backside of the cam gears thrust surface was also ground right down and the cam was walking back and forth at least .200 and was even hitting the timing chain cover. So after seeing all that I had to pull the intake off to inspect the cam and distributor gear. Now I get to see that a few of the cam lobes were wiped out and it wouldn't have lasted much longer! Hmmm so thats a pretty good excuse to tear down and choose a nice cam and maybe go through and replace or inspect all the bearings. Heres a few pics of how far I got today! In the pics you can see how far off center the lifter on the lobe is ( it's actually hitting the lobe beside it) and in the last pic you can see the lobe damage.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
So the Summit order came in on friday! I had a busy week going through the engine. I managed to dissasemble the bottom end and check all the bearings and clearances and they looked and measured really good! While I was there I changed the rear main seal and a few of the frost plugs that had rust around them. I flushed the block with cleaner and reassembled with new cam bearings, cam, lifters, push rods, double roller timing chain, valve springs/seals. Unfortunately I don't have many pics of that stuff since I was pretty greasy and didn't have my camera near.

Re: 67 C10 "Green Gobblin" straight from the field!
Took all the loose parts to the hot tank then reassembled and prepped the motor for paint! I also decided to clean up the trans and paint it along with the motor. If all goes well I should be painting sometime this week! I'm going to try spraying out the POR-15 Chevy orange high-temp paint so we shall see how that goes?

Oh ya that’s a heavy intake alright! Darn thing weights 50lbs! I thought about putting a alum one on but I’d like to keep that factory bbc look.
