Re: Got a new truck
Well we got the 2x4 for the boat sides, so we are working on that, and got the seats cut out. Should have some pics later or tomorrow.

Re: Got a new truck
Well we got some more done, just working to finishing the boat side so we can start on the cage.
And the seats are just sitting there and will be lowered a few inchs each, so we can lower the roof height. We also left about 4 inches in front of the cab for a cross bar that will have the shock mounts attached to it. We will have more progress this whole week, we are trying to finish it this weekend.

Re: Got a new truck
Well it has been raining but we should be able to work on it a little today. My dad the front pretty back together, so we will drag it under the front so we can start making the link brackets.
We have the upper tabs on the axle but we need to find where the tabs on the frame will go. Which is the most difficult part. I will hopefully gt some progress pics later today.

Re: Got a new truck
Got some more steel today, to make the crossmember for the lower links. And my dad is working on that while I'm resting. We got enough to make the braces for the boatside also.
So I will have some pics tomorrow.

We are heading to Pismo Mamorial Weekend (I can't spell) But a day trip or two in June or whenever is allways a possability. I am about 1.5hrs away so send me a message or post up when you are thinking of going and i'll see if I can make it too..check with the boss, wife hhehe

Re: Got a new truck
We cut the frame in the the front so we can put the axle where we want. It will be upper about a foot from where it is at. We should have a 128ish wheelbase. It seems long but it should be great, and have a ton of stability.

Re: Got a new truck
We got the upper links on and fully welded. And tomorrow we will be working on the lowers. But we might have run into a problem. The driveline might not have enough room, hopefully it won't be a problem. We won't know till we are done.

Re: Got a new truck
Well I think we are going to work on it tonight, but not tomorrow because I have to get an mri. The plan is to finish the lower links and work a little on the shock mounts.
here is a pic of the truck, with the upper links on and the front shocks about 3in from being fully compressed. Then the back will be lowered or raised to match the front's height.

Re: Got a new truck
Well this is the end of this truck. We are going to start taking everything off of it to make the 4 seater I have been wanting to make. So my mom can come.

Re: Got a new truck
Most likely keep it, if not then we will take it in as scrap.
We just saw this as becoming a money pit. Because when we were under it trying to firgure how to mount the lowers, we saw it as the frame becoming a weak point in the design. You figure boxing the frame, and the work to do it, it would just be easier and cheaper in the end to build a 4 seater; which is what I want and We need so we can go as a family.

Yup, it was a great learning experence. The thing I learned most was build it at full bump.

Re: Got a new truck
Well this weekend we are going to get another cab, and ordering the steel this week. We picked up a rebuild 350 today. So hopefully I will have progress soon. I am going to just keep this thread going through the new build.

Re: Got a new truck
Everything pretty much except cab, frame, motor and the half-tons. We might not be able to re-use the rear link bars, because they maybe too long.

Re: Got a new truck
The frame was cracked to where it would be easier and a lot cheaper to build a new one than redo this. And while building it this is what I will be trying to make a buggy out of a cab like this.
I have the cab in the garage and the roof from this. And am getting another cab, to try and build a 4 door cab. This time it will be build a lot safer and hopefully it will perform better. It will be all thought out, and tacked together then make any changes we feel is needed before final welding. And a pic of the motor. It will get a set of headers instead of the stock mismatched manifolds Edit: I know your thinking they just painted it orange and cleaned it and said they rebuild it. But My dad knows and helped rebuild it a few years ago to my understanding and just sat till we bought it.

Re: Got a new truck
I think around 140 maybe a bit longer. About the 10 in longer than the pic earlier. At longest 147 which a truck had on pirate. It was a newer crew cab on 47's.
When I first added it up it came to like 140 but that should be a little longer than actual.
