Re: Crossing over, the 65 rebuild.

Jon

Sent you a PM this morning.

The blanket works out good on the seat! I think the material you pick along with the seat heaters will be a great addition to the truck. As for the support wings, I would go with Black or Orange. It all depends on what the rest of the engine compartment looks like.

Thanks,

Re: Crossing over, the 65 rebuild.

Interested to see how the seat heaters work out for you. Been considering the same for my seat build.

Be careful with the heated seat, it's like being at camp and in the middle of the night while your sleeping someone puts your fingers in a glass of worm water

maybe if I hold one finger out the window in the rain and one on the seat?

I have them in most of our vehicles and they are the cats meow here in the cold , dreary, rainy, snowy North West.

Bead blasting, priming and in satin black at lunch

Gonna check that look before switching to body color. I think the satin will look more subtle instead of " HEY LOOK WHATS ON HERE NOW!!!!!" orange

IMO, black is the right choice. Looks good!

I kinda found the dancing pink elephant oddly inspirational too. I couldn't figure out if it was a trunk or some $1.99 emoticon from an adult website until I stopped watching it from my phone and had to supersize it on my desktop. I have since gone back to watching it on my phone.

Re: Crossing over, the 65 rebuild.

Tonight I re aimed the headlights, funny how slamming a truck has an effect on a projected beam, I couldn't see and was outdriving the lamps! I also installed a 2lb residual valve in the rear line where the front half meets the back on the pass frame rail. WOW! What a difference. I did not want to use a booster as I was wanting more of a "feel" through the pedal during the spirited driving and the 4 wheel disc with dual non power master were a little lacking when first installed. On first apply the pedal mushed and felt like drum, then a quick pump and tons of brakes at once. Installed the 2lb residual valve and steady great pedal from initial to full apply. I have a dial style proportioning valve but felt that when using a dual disc / disc 67 corvette style master, I shouldn't need the dial style and wanted O.E. rates front and back. Granted its not a fiberglass sportscar, but wanted to start somewhere as a baseline and had the adjustable prop if I needed it. Turns out its perfect, even in the wet slick highway drive home. Did a few "panic" stops and the rear didn't want to come around. It just stoped, no diving, sliding , skiding or a$$ end sliding. I have read quite a few threads discouraging rear disc, rear disc park brake, rear disc without power assist etc. But wanted them anyway, glad I figured out the combo for this truck. With the powersteering, airride, sway bar and 4 wheel disc, my 75 mile commute through the farmland twisties has gotten a lot more fun!

Isn't that your wife's truck ?

When does she get it ? I mean really, how long are you going to 'test drive' it ?

i'm with those liking them black. looks like part of the structure surrounding the motor. kinda frames it, maybe orange on the air cleaner, it'd be like a cherry on a sundee.

Orange air cleaner with some pinstripes would look good! Let me see what I can come up with this weekend.
