Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

If I don't use the covers i'll send some pics since you are going olive green... maybe i'll cut you a deal!

I also picked up new, matching green visors from the guy.

Mike what color green are they? Dark green? You've got me thinking.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

I just paid for them... $99 auction plus $30 to ship... an extra $50 for the matching visors...

can't beat the price, we'll see how it matches my paint options...

Post some pictures of them laid out once you get them. I'm curious about the color.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

The big brown truck stopped by today. He dropped off the small capped Mallory distributor that Greg (greg65) sent to me to try out to see how much firewall clearance it would give me compared to my Skip White hei dizzy. All I can say is it's night and day difference between the two. I don't have any pics of the large cap dizzy installed because I couldn't get the cab in place with it installed, but here's one with the Mallory installed. It looks like I may be running an external coil now.

Thanks Greg.

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

Got my seat covers and visors in today... I think they look pretty sharp.. especially for $99 and $50 for the visors! Hard to get the light but here is an indoor and outdoor pic. I was planning on a polo green type paint anyway, now I have something to match! i guess i'll stick with the black dash pad for now, or maybe have my buddy smooth it and sell the pad...

Gene,

I really think it's a crap shoot with the 4x's, some fit, some don't. Alot of folks "massage" the firewall with a big hammer. If that small cap Mallory hadn't of fallen into my lap I probably would've modified the firewall as well. Yours may fit, you never know until you sit the cab back on the frame. Good luck.

Bought my HEI new from White? off Ebay.
It fits, but barely.
I can get my hand around it, but I also have to crawl into the engine bay........

Mine has about 1/4 - 1/2" clearance... I can just fit my fingers around the cap...

Cool, I really don't need anymore suprises. Got my cab sandblasted and found out I needed inner and outer rockers, both cab corners, in addition to all of my cab supports replaced. You guys got any updated pics of your projects?

Re: Project - '69 4x4 named "Patches"

mine has a 1/2" max. originally I had an excell cap that wouldnt let my cab come into position on the mounts so I went to a stock hei one for now. I will def. be doing a mallory or msd down the road with an external box with the rev limiter.

No new progress to talk about. I've been working on getting the fuel tank mounted, that's about it.

I just found that one over the weekend as well. They must have just started carrying that model, because when I bought my HEI from them they didn't list them, at least not on e-Bay.

Thanks Taylor. Hopefully one of these years I'll be able to drive it. Are you coming to the Canton show this month?

I've thought about having it powdercoated, at the least it'll be painted. What about you?
